| PUBLIC EXHIBITION OF DRAFT MANAGEMENT PLAN 28 Day Exhibition Period – 9/4/08 to 6/5/08 ***Submissions close 4.30pm TODAY*** Kempsey Shire Council is required to produce a Manageme nt Plan annually which outlines details of Council’s work and activities for the next three years and also provides a statement of Council’s revenue policy for the next twelve months. Council’s Draft Management Plan, Budget and proposed Fees & Charges will be on public exhibition from Wednesday 9 April, 2008 until Tuesday 6 May, 2008. You are encouraged to view this document at the: • Civic Centre in West Kempsey, The document is also available on Council’s website www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au. You are invited to make comments on the Draft Management Plan in writing. Submission will be received up to 4.30pm on Tuesday May 6, 2008 and will be considered prior to the adoption of the Management Plan at Council’s meeting on May 13, 2008. Submissions should be addressed to the General Manager, Kempsey Shire council, PO Box 3078, West Kempsey, NSW, 2440. HALF DAY PUBLIC HOLIDAYS 2008 The following public half day holiday has been gazetted by the NSW Department of Industrial Relations for the Kempsey Shire Council area:- • Thursday afternoon, 8 May 2008 for Kempsey Cup. Local public holidays are gazetted under the Banks and Banks Holidays Act of 1912. This act requires that banks are closed on local public holidays. An appointed local holiday under the Act benefits employees who have an industrial award, agreement or contract of employment which confers a right of paid absence (or penalty rates in lieu) on the local public holiday. In the absence of such express coverage within an applicable industrial instrument, the conferring of the benefit of a local public holiday to employees is entirely within the discretion of individual employers. METER READING UNDERWAY Council’s Macleay Water Staff members are currently reading water meters in the Shire. These 6 monthly water usage accounts will be issued and due for payment by the end of July 2008. Dog owners are asked to ensure that Council officers can access your property’s water meter without interference from your dog. Overgrown or buried water meters can also cause problems and may result in incorrect readings being registered. Please make sure your water meter is accessible at all times. PUBLIC NOTIFICATION OF DEVELOPMENT CONSENTS - ISSUED BY COUNCIL
NOTICE OF PROPOSED DEVELOPMENTS
The applications and plans relating to the developments to which this notice refers may be inspected at council’s Customer First Centre, Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8.30am and 4.30pm from Monday to Friday (public holidays excepted) for the period stated above. 1 who has received written notice of a proposed development from Council; or If the application will need to be considered by Council, a precis of submissions received will be included in a report to Council for determination of the application. Copies of submissions may be included in the Appendices to the Business Paper unless specifically requested by the writer not to be included and the submission is clearly headed “confidential”. MASTER LOCKSMITH ACCESS KEY SYSTEM (MLAK) The MLAK is a master key that fits into specially designed locks allowing 24 hour a day access to public toilets. Eligibility is restricted to people who have a disability or have written authority from a Doctor, a Disability Organisation, a Local Council or Community Health Centre, the Owner or management of a building with an accessible toilet on site. Eligible people can purchase a key that opens all accessible toilets displaying the MLAK symbol for only $15 at the Customer First Centre. COUNCIL’S WEBSITE Council is continually updating and expanding its website to make it easy for residents and visitors to access a range of information on the Council and the Shire. Did you know you can now access Council’s business paper and minutes, as well as many documents such as the Annual Report, the Management Plan and the State of the Environment Report. You can also access our library website, which provides excellent information and statistics. Visit the site often to find out the latest news from your Council – www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au. COMMUNITY CONSULTATION REGISTER Council is establishing a Community Central Consultation Register so that members of our community can register their interest in participating in focus group and other consultative opportunities. All you need to do to be included is fill in a registration form and return it to Council. Forms are available from Council’s Customer First Centre, all branches of the Shire Library, or online at www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au (go to Communications, then Forms Index (Alpha), and you’ll find under ‘C’, Central Consultation Register). NO GLASS PLEASE If you are placing flowers or mementoes at any of the Shire’s cemeteries please remember that no glass containers, ceramics or solar lights are permitted. These types of items break easily and this presents a danger to visitors and Council staff who maintain the cemetery grounds. Your assistance in this would be appreciated. DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION ONLINE TRACKING AND PUBLIC REGISTER Kempsey Shire Council has implemented a Development Application Online Tracking system and a Public Register of Development Applications which allows easier access and tracking of lodged development applications and assists customers in gathering information through electronic media. NIGHT ASPHALT WORKS Kempsey Shire Council wishes to advise that they will be undertaking asphalt works in the South West Rocks area from Monday, 12 May 2008, to Friday, 16 May 2008 (weather permitting). The affected roads are:-
All work will be carried out at night between the hours 6:00 pm and 6:00 am. Roads will be closed for periods with traffic control and detours in place to direct traffic through the worksite. NOTIFICATION OF CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSED DEVELOPMENTS The public are advised that it is intended to consider the following development related issues lodged with the Sustainable Development Services Department at the Council Meeting of 13 May, 2008.
