EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST Kempsey Shire Council’s Economic Development Unit invites Shire residents to nominate as individuals and representatives of groups and businesses for potential membership in its Macleay Development and Promotion Airport Advancement Focus Group. The purpose of the Focus Group will be to identify and investigate opportunities for the development of the Kempsey Airport Facility. Once the level of community interest is gauged, Macleay Development and Promotion will appoint Focus Group members. The goals of the selection process will be to assemble a focus group that represents a broad cross-section of our community and to draw on the community’s relevant interests and expertise, particularly in the aviation industry and related services. The Focus Group functions to serve the best interests of the community as a whole. Registration Forms and an Information Sheet can be obtained at Macleay Development and Promotion Office 3/37 Forth Street, Kempsey, Council’s Customer First Centre in Tozer Street, West Kempsey, by telephoning Macleay Development and Promotion Office on 02 6566 3100 or on Council’s Website at www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au under Expressions of Interest. The closing date for Expressions of Interest is 29 February 2008. SALE OF VACANT LAND SURPLUS TO REQUIREMENTS OF KEMPSEY SHIRE COUNCIL Expressions of interest are invited for the purchase of several blocks of surplus Council lands throughout the Shire. Council has identified several land parcels which are classified as Operational land and are no longer required by Council. Interested persons should make their own enquiries as to approved usage entitlements for these land parcels prior to the submission of a tender price for their purchase. Descriptions of the land parcels offered for sale appear below and prospective purchasers are requested to detail in writing offers for the purchase of these blocks by the closing date of Tuesday 25/3/08. PAYMENT OF RATES – REMINDER Ratepayers are reminded that the third rate instalment is due for payment on or before 29 February 2008. Failure to finalise the payment by the due date will result in interest charges. Ratepayers who have been granted a “Pensioners Rebate” have until 31 May, 2008 to finalise their account in full, however arrears on a Pensioners account must be finalised immediately and is the subject of daily interest charges. Should you be experiencing difficulties in paying your rates, please contact Council to make a suitable arrangement for settlement of the account. EXTRAORDINARY MEETING – 19 & 20 FEBRUARY An extra-ordinary meeting of Kempsey Shire Council will be held on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 February 2008 to consider its draft budget for the next 10 years commencing from the 2008-2009 year. The meeting will commence at 9.00am and the public are invited to attend. CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY – Volunteers Needed – Sunday 2 March Following last year’s impressive response, Macleay Valley residents are again encouraged to volunteer to participate in Australia’s biggest community based environmental event, Clean Up Australia Day, on Sunday 2 March and ‘Don’t make our environment history’ is this years slogan. Council is once again coordinating the activities in the Shire and is keen to have as many volunteers as possible helping at Clean Up sites throughout the valley. You can also register a clean up site directly or as a volunteer by visiting the Clean Up Australia Day website at www.cleanup.com.au. Alternatively, phone Council’s Waste Coordinator, Owen G Moon (6566 3200) for more details. USE OF COUNCIL’S SPORTING FIELDS Applications are invited for the use of Council’s Sporting Fields for the Winter Season, 1 April 2008 to 30 September 2008. This invitation includes utilisation of playing fields for one-off events or regular use. All user groups, including schools, wishing to utilise Councils fields during the winter season should request and complete the Application Forms and relevant documents, and provide the documentation requested in the information kit. Please contact Customer First on 02 65 663200 to obtain a kit. These applications are important because they form the basis of our record keeping on field usage. These records are also used to assist our budgeting process by providing evidence supporting capitall expenditure on the fields. PUBLIC GATE - YESSABAH ROAD Council at its meeting on 15 January 2008 approved an application for the installation of a Public Gate on Yessabah Road, at the boundary of Lot 175 DP752419 Parish of Kullatine, County of Dudley. The applications and plans relating to the developments to which this notice refers may be inspected at council’s Customer First Centre, Civic Centre, Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8.30am and 4.30pm from Monday to Friday (public holidays excepted) for the period stated above. At anytime during which the application may be inspected, any person: 1 who has received written notice of a proposed development from Council; or A precis of submissions received will be included in a report to Council for determination of the application. Copies of submissions may be included in the Appendices to the Business Paper unless specifically requested by the writer not to be included and the submission is clearly headed “confidential”.
