In June and July Council will undertake the major task of removing all breakable items and solar lights from the Shire cemeteries. The reason for the removal of these items is that, if broken, they present a real risk of injury to cemetery visitors and to the people who maintain the cemetery. On a windy day items made of breakable materials such as glass and ceramic are blown over and are easily broken. If you have glass or ceramic items of sentimental value or solar lights currently at any of the Shire cemeteries please take the opportunity to remove them before Council staff begin this undertaking. Council is very mindful of how sensitive this is for members of our community but we ask for your understanding and cooperation on this matter. Please note, you may still leave containers or mementoes made of unbreakable materials such as metal or plastic at the Shire cemeteries.
