GLASS, CERAMICS AND SOLAR LIGHTS AT CEMETERIES

In June and July Council will undertake the major task of removing all breakable items and solar lights from the Shire cemeteries. The reason for the removal of these items is that, if broken, they present a real risk of injury to cemetery visitors and to the people who maintain the cemetery. On a windy day items made of breakable materials such as glass and ceramic are blown over and are easily broken.

If you have glass or ceramic items of sentimental value or solar lights currently at any of the Shire cemeteries please take the opportunity to remove them before Council staff begin this undertaking. Council is very mindful of how sensitive this is for members of our community but we ask for your understanding and cooperation on this matter.

Please note, you may still leave containers or mementoes made of unbreakable materials such as metal or plastic at the Shire cemeteries.

MACLEAY WATER CONSTRUCTION WORKS -
ELBOW STREET, WEST KEMPSEY

During the next 3 months Macleay Water will be undertaking major construction works on its infrastructure in the West Kempsey CBD in the area between the Kemp & Elbow Street Roundabout and the Elbow & Tozer Street Intersection. Construction work has now commenced around the intersection of Elbow and Tozer Streets. Pedestrians and motorists are asked to be cautious when approaching this area. Traffic control will be operational to direct traffic around the worksite. While most work is scheduled to be completed between the hours of 7.00 am and 4.00 pm, at times, it may be necessary to conduct work outside these times.

As the project involves major improvements to both trunk and reticulated water mains, the construction will be done in stages in an effort to minimize disruption to traffic flows, parking and customers in the area. At this stage no disruptions to the water supply are expected.

Macleay Water will keep you advised with regular updates as work progresses of expected delays and alternate routes.

If you’d like to receive one you can contact Megan Barber on 65 663334 and arrange for one to be posted to you. Alternatively, you can pick up a copy at the Customer First Centre or any of the Shire Library Branches in Kempsey, South West Rocks, Hat Head and Stuarts Point.
