YOUTH ADVISORY COUNCIL – Call for nominations

Kempsey Shire Council is calling for nominations to be involved in the second term of the Macleay Valley Youth Advisory Council from 1st April 2008 to 28th February 2009.

The Macleay Valley Youth Advisory Council is a 12 member Council of youth between the ages of 12 to 25 years.

The purpose of the Macleay Valley Youth Advisory Council (MVYAC) is an advisory committee that provides a local ‘youth voice’ in government policy and decision-making. The committee keeps Kempsey Shire Council informed on issues that are significantly important to the young people of the Kempsey Shire. It will also provide the chance to plan and hold youth events, improve personal development, and liaise with local, state and federal government bodies.

No matter whom you are, or what you do, you can put your hand up to become part of this Youth Advisory Council for Kempsey Shire. Existing members need to reapply for membership.

KEMPSEY SHIRE COUNCIL – SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT SERVICES
OPERATION OF DOG POUND & PARKING CONTROL
EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Applications are invited from qualified persons/organisations interested in undertaking operation of Council’s Pound and Parking Control.

The successful Contractor will be involved in general Ranger duties as directed, with Parking/Pound duties being key duties.

The contract position is offered as (25 hrs) per week, over 5 hrs per day Monday to Friday.

Specific duties will include:

  • Parking Control Kempsey CBD.
  • Pound duties - cleaning/feeding/animal care and welfare.
  • General Ranger duties as required.

The suitable qualified person/organisation must have:

  • Good knowledge of Local Government and all relevant legislation and procedures.
  • Experience in the issue and service of legal documents and presentation of evidence in court proceedings.
  • A current NSW Drivers Licence.

It is intended to commence the contract in April 2008.

EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST (EOI) –
IMPLEMENTATION of STRAYEGY ‘H’ KILLICK CREEK ESTUARY MANAGEMENT PLAN

Kempsey Shire Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified consultants to undertake the investigative processes required to implement Strategy ‘H’ of the Killick Creek Estuary Management Plan. The Killick Creek EMP is available on Councils Web page.

Council intends to undertake the activity described in Strategy ‘H’ of the Killick Ck EMP compliant to the State Environmental Planning Policy 35 – Maintenance Dredging of Tidal Waterways.

The consultant will be required to undertake all the investigative proposals described in the Consultants Brief, culminating in a report that describes comprehensively all the environmental, social and economic considerations, discuss the objectives, determine methods, develop monitoring strategies and detail all legislative requirements.

PUBLIC COMMENT SOUGHT
Proposed Bridge Name

Council is seeking public comment on the proposal to name an unnamed small Bridge over the creek on Reserve Road, Grassy Head. This Bridge is just outside the Grassy Head Caravan Park.”.

The proposed name is Williams Bridge after the Williams family that mainly originates from Yarrahappinni and Lower Macleay areas.

Submissions to the proposal should be made, in writing to Council by Tuesday 19th March 2008 addressed to the General Manager, Kempsey Shire Council, PO Box 3078, WEST KEMPSEY NSW 2440.

CCTV Consultants

Kempsey Shire Council is currently investigating the installation of Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) Security systems within a number of towns and villages in the Kempsey Shire.

To assist in this process Kempsey Shire Council is calling for Expressions of Interest from suitability qualified CCTV Consultants / experts who will be able to undertake an assessment of CCTV requirements for the Kempsey Shire.

The suitably qualified consultant must provide a detailed analysis of CCTV Services including the planning, location and installation of systems in the following localities of:

  • Kempsey CBD
  • South Kempsey Industrial Estate
  • Crescent Head
  • South West Rocks

At anytime during which the application may be inspected, any person:

CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY – Volunteers Needed – Sunday 2 March

Following last year’s impressive response, Macleay Valley residents are again encouraged to volunteer to participate in Australia’s biggest community based environmental event, Clean Up Australia Day, on Sunday 2 March and ‘Don’t make our environment history’ is this years slogan.

Council is once again coordinating the activities in the Shire and is keen to have as many volunteers as possible helping at Clean Up sites throughout the valley.
