SUMMARY OF 2004 ELECTION CONTRIBUTIONS Council at its meeting on 11 March 2008 resolved that current Councillors have their electoral funding returns for the 2004 Council Election published in the Macleay Argus. A summary of the declaration of political contributions received and electoral expenditure incurred in respect of the Kempsey Shire Council Election held on 27 March 2004 is shown below. The full returns were previously tabled for public inspection in 2004 and are still available for inspection should a member of the public wish to view them. ROAD CLOSURES SOUTH WEST ROCKS Residents are advised that the southbound lane of South West Rocks Road, from Jerseyville Bridge to the Hat Head turnoff will be closed to all traffic between the hours of 7.30am and 10.30am on Sunday 8 June 2008. A sixty km speed restriction will be imposed for northbound traffic in the same area. Traffic controllers will be in place at the Jerseyville Bridge to divert traffic. Cost of specifications: $40.00 non refundable PAYMENT OF RATES – REMINDER Ratepayers are reminded that the fourth rate instalment is due for payment on or before 31 May 2008. Failure to finalise the payment by the due date will result in interest charges. Ratepayers who have been granted a “Pensioners Rebate” have until 31 May 2008 to finalise their account in full, however, arrears on a Pensioners account must be finalised immediately and is the subject of daily interest charges. Should you be experiencing difficulties in paying your rates, please contact Council to make a suitable arrangement for settlement of the account. ENGRAVERS TO HIRE As a proactive approach Kempsey Shire Council has engraving kits available for hire to residents of the Shire that can be arrange through Customer First Centre. Hire times are:- The hire fee of $10 is payable at time of lodgement. An additional fee of $10 per day is payable if the engraving kit is returned after 10am. Council recommends that residents engrave their licence number onto the personal items as this number is easily recognisable. Instructions of use are issued with the engraving kits. PUBLIC NOTIFICATION OF DEVELOPMENT CONSENTS - ISSUED BY COUNCIL Consent has been granted for the following applications.
A record of consents may be inspected, without charge, at the Customer First Centre of the Kempsey Shire Council, Civic Centre, Tozer Street, West Kempsey, between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm from Monday to Friday (public holidays excepted). COUNCIL’S WEBSITE Council is continually updating and expanding its website to make it easy for residents and visitors to access a range of information on the Council and the Shire. Did you know you can now access Council’s business paper and minutes, as well as many documents such as the Annual Report, the Management Plan and the State of the Environment Report. RESERVE YOUR LIBRARY ITEMS VIA OUR COUNCIL WEBSITE You can now reserve books, DVDs, videos, computer games, magazines via our Kempsey Shire Council website catalogue at www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au/library.htm. The process is easy, all you need to do is visit this site address and reserve your choices by using your membership number and birthdate as your password. If you need any assistance please speak to our friendly library staff who are more than happy to walk you through the process at any of our libraries or just follow the easy instructions on the website, reserve your items of choice and the library will phone you when the they arrive! COMPLIMENTS & COMPLAINTS Council’s Complaints and Compliments Policy aims to improve customer service in relation to Council activities. It gives you the chance to provide feedback to Council when something has been done well or poorly. Your feedback helps us provide effective and consistent management of complaints in relation to Council activities, receive compliments, and presents management and staff with the opportunity to: • Provide improved service and satisfaction to customers who may have expressed dissatisfaction with Council In conjunction with this Policy, Council has recently updated its brochure for residents to assist them should they wish to lodge a complaint, make a suggestion or offer a compliment to staff. The brochure answers the following questions: • What should I do if I wish to complain? This brochure are available at Council’s Customer First Centre or can be downloaded from our website – www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au. CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY REGISTER In accordance with Council’s Policy on Chemical Sensitivity, residents within the Kempsey Shire area are asked to advise Council if they are chemically sensitive. On receipt of written notification accompanied by a Doctor’s Certificate you will be included on Council’s Chemical Sensitivity Register.
