DRAFT COMMUNITY DELIVERY PROGRAM 2010-2015
Public Exhibition (16 October – 13 November 2009)

Kempsey Shire Council is required to develop a community delivery program (formerly called the social plan) every five years that maps out how the principles of social justice (equity, access, participation and rights) will be improved within our Shire.

This Community Delivery Plan is now at Draft Stage and recognises the value of volunteering, community-based organisations, cultural diversity, community events, sporting organisations and community centres to our community. It also addresses the key social challenges, opportunities and aspirations of the Macleay Valley.

It is important that members of the community take the time to have a look at this delivery plan because it will affect the direction Council takes over the next five years, especially in the area of community engagement.

The DRAFT Kempsey Shire Council Community Delivery Program 2010-15, developed in accordance with the Local Government (General) Amendment (Community and Social Plans) Regulation 1998, is on public exhibition for 28 days from Friday 16 October until 4pm Friday 13 November, 2009.

You are encouraged to review this document at Kempsey, South West Rocks, Stuarts Point and Hat Head libraries, Council’s Customer First Centre in Tozer Street, West Kempsey or alternatively you may download a copy from Council’s Website at http://www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au/publicexhibition.htm.

Council welcomes any comments or suggestions on the DRAFT Program, which need to be made in writing and received by Council no later than 4pm Friday 13 November 2009. Submissions can be mailed to Jo McGoldrick, Kempsey Shire Council, PO Box 3078, West Kempsey, NSW 2440 or sent via email to ksc@kempsey.nsw.gov.au.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION WORK - ELBOW STREET, WEST KEMPSEY

Council is currently constructing centre parking in Elbow Street between Sea Street and Tozer Street, West Kempsey. The work is currently proceeding on schedule with the construction of a pedestrian crossing and tree planting underway.

Alternative parking is available in Edinburgh Lane, which runs parallel behind the Elbow Street shops. Some businesses have rear access to this parking and there is a walkway through from Edinburgh Lane to Elbow Street between the Macleay Community College and the former Meals on Wheels office.

Council has erected signs and other safety barriers to assist with the pedestrian access.

Council recognises, and apologises for, inconvenience these works will cause but is aiming to have them completed as quickly as possible to minimise the disruption for members of the public and the business community.
