FEBRUARY COUNCIL MEETING AT STUARTS POINT Council would like to remind residents that the next Council meeting on Tuesday, 3rd February 2009, is being held at Stuarts Point. The newly elected Council wanted to hold some of its Council meetings outside Kempsey and this will be the first time a full Council meeting has been held outside Kempsey for many years. The residents of the Stuarts Point area are particularly invited to come along and see the Council at work in discussing the issues affecting our Shire. The meeting will commence at 9.00am at the Stuarts Point Community Hall and will go for most of the day. Everyone is welcome to attend even if it is for only part of the meeting. HALF DAY PUBLIC HOLIDAYS 2009 The following public half day holidays have been gazetted by the NSW Department of Industrial Relations for the Kempsey Shire Council area:- • Wednesday afternoon, 29 April 2009 for Kempsey Show Local public holidays are gazetted under the Banks and Banks Holidays Act of 1912. This act requires that banks are closed on local public holidays. An appointed local holiday under the Act benefits employees who have an industrial award, agreement or contract of employment which confers a right of paid absence (or penalty rates in lieu) on the local public holiday. In the absence of such express coverage within an applicable industrial instrument, the conferring of the benefit of a local public holiday to employees is entirely within the discretion of individual employers. STEELE PARK, WEST KEMPSEY - COMMUNITY MEETING Council invites members of the community to attend a meeting regarding Steele Park in West Kempsey on Monday 2 February 2009. The meeting will be held at the West Kempsey Community House, 26 Gordon Nixon Avenue from 10.00am with morning tea provided. Come and have your say on the future of the park. COMMUNITY NEWSLETTERS Council produces six community newsletters each year. Two 4 page colour newsletters are distributed by letterbox delivery in March and August and four 2 page monotone newsletters are attached to the Rate instalment notices distributed at the end of January, April, July and October. If you pay your rates in one lump sum you will not receive rate instalment notices and will, therefore, miss out on receiving these quarterly newsletters. If you would like to receive one you can contact Megan Barber on 65 663334 and arrange for one to be posted to you. Alternatively, you can pick up a copy at the Customer First Centre or any of the Shire Library Branches in Kempsey, South West Rocks, Hat Head and Stuarts Point. Council’s newsletters are also available electronically via our Website www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au. (go to ‘Communications’ then ‘Council Newsletters’). NOTICE OF PROPOSED DEVELOPMENTS The following applications have been received and are notified in accordance with Council’s Policy.
The applications and plans relating to the developments to which this notice refers may be inspected at Council’s Customer First Centre, Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8.30am and 4.30pm from Monday to Friday (public holidays excepted) for the period stated above. 1 who has received written notice of a proposed development from Council; or The disclosure (Disclosure Statement of Political Donations and Gifts) will need to accompany the submission. A Disclosure Form and further details can be obtained from Council’s website or Customer First Centre. If the application will need to be considered by Council, a precis of submissions received will be included in a report to Council for determination of the application. Copies of submissions may be included in the Appendices to the Business Paper unless specifically requested by the writer not to be included and the submission is clearly headed “confidential”. PUBLIC NOTIFICATION OF DEVELOPMENT CONSENTS - ISSUED BY COUNCIL Consent has been granted for the following applications.
A record of consents may be inspected, without charge, at the Customer First Centre of the Kempsey Shire Council, Civic Centre, Tozer Street, West Kempsey, between 8.30 am and 4.30 pm from Monday to Friday (public holidays excepted). NOTIFICATION OF CONSIDERATION OF PROPOSED DEVELOPMENTS The public are advised that it is intended to consider the following development related issues lodged with the Sustainable Development Services Department at the Council Meeting of 3 February, 2009. The meeting will commence at 9.00am.
Further information on the Development Proposals can be obtained by contacting: PUBLIC EXHIBITION OF DRAFT AGEING 2022, Responding to and planning for the major changes and service demands that will be created by Australia’s ageing population is a major challenge for all levels of government. Between 2004 and 2022 the population of the Macleay Valley is projected to increase in size to around 29,875 (7%). The impact on the demand on services, facilities and infrastructure will be significant and will impact on virtually all aspects of council’s operations. To address this issue Kempsey Shire Council has produced the Ageing 2022, Action on Ageing Strategy and Action Plan which outlines details of Council’s work and activities for the coming years. You are encouraged to view this document at the: • Civic Centre in West Kempsey, The document is also available on Council’s website www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au. We will also be holding a public meeting at 6.00pm on Tuesday, 3rd February 2009, to give everyone the opportunity to discuss the various aspects of the Draft Ageing 2022, Action on Ageing Strategy and Plan. So if you want know anything about what Council is planning this is the meeting to be at! The venue for the meeting will be the Council Chambers in Elbow Street, West Kempsey. You are invited to comment on the Draft ageing 2022, Action on Ageing Strategy and Action Plan. Submissions, addressed to the General Manager, Kempsey Shire Council, PO Box 3078, West Kempsey. NSW. 2440, will be accepted up until Friday 13th February 2009. All submissions will be reviewed by Council and taken into consideration before the adoption of the final Ageing 2022, Action on Ageing Strategy and Action Plan. SENIORS WEEK 2009 NSW Seniors Week will be held from 15-22 March 2009. Kempsey Shire Council’s Seniors Luncheon will be held at the Kempsey Macleay RSL Auditorium on Wednesday, 18 March 2009, commencing at 11.00 am. Melanie Parry will present The Music Of Judy Garland and the Dame Vera Lynn Show. Tickets to the Luncheon are available at Kempsey Shire Council’s Customer First Service Centre, Tozer Street, West Kempsey and the Macleay Valley Community Care Centre, corner Forth & Yaelwood Street, Kempsey. A hot lunch will be served at approximately 12.00pm. Everyone who has a ticket must present it at the door. As numbers are restricted any tickets already collected that will not be used on the day should be returned to Kempsey Shire Council’s Customer First Service Centre so they can be reissued. Also during Seniors Week, Kempsey Shire Council will be holding activities at Kempsey Showground along with a Seniors Art Prize. The Art Prize will be for two categories, Painting and Photography. Entry forms are available at Kempsey Shire Council’s Customer First Centre or the Macleay Valley Community Care Centre. |
