METER READING UNDERWAY Contract readers are about to commence reading water meters in the Shire. These 3 monthly water usage accounts will be issued and due for payment by the end of July 2009. Dog owners are asked to ensure that Contract officers can access your property’s water meter without interference from your dog. Overgrown or buried water meters can also cause problems and may result in incorrect readings being registered. Please make sure your water meter is accessible at all times. AERIAL SPRAYING Kempsey Shire Council has arranged for the aerial spraying of Bitou Bush on Stuarts Point Beach for the beginning of May depending on climatic conditions. The spraying will be done with chemical that is registered to control Bitou Bush. Council apologizes for any inconvenience these works may cause. AUCTION OF SURPLUS PROPERTIES Twenty-four (24) parcels of land, some with subdivision potential, some with Macleay River views, many with building entitlements Will be put to public auction on Thursday, 14 May 2009, commencing at 9:30am in the Council Chambers at 22 Tozer Street West Kempsey. NOTICE OF ADOPTION OF ORDERS POLICY Kempsey Shire Council at its Ordinary Meeting of 7 April 2009 has resolved to adopt Orders Policy, and will become effective from the date of this public notification. The aim of the policy is to provide direction to the public and Council staff that will clarify and provide criteria where orders are issued under the Local Government Act 1993 and Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR OPERATION OF KEMPSEY REGIONAL SALEYARDS – E2009-003 Expressions of Interest are invited for the future operation of the Kempsey Regional Saleyards. Kempsey Regional Saleyards is ranked in the top 20 NSW Saleyards with an annual cattle throughput nearing 40,000 head per annum. The facility currently conducts fortnightly Market Day Sales, a monthly Store & Breeder Sale and periodic Bullock Sales. Future operators will be required to conduct the sales, provide relevant staffing and site management systems on sale days. Expressions of Interest could include options for additional sale days and/or multiple selling agents. The exhibition period will be 28 days from Tuesday, 14 April 2009 to Tuesday, 12 May 2009. The formal public exhibition including full copies of the draft Plan and associated koala habitat mapping may be viewed at Council’s Customer First Centre at the Civic Centre, 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey, Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 4.30pm. Copies of the draft Plan and mapping will also be available at the Kempsey, South West Rocks, Hat Head and Stuarts Point Libraries during normal opening hours. HALF DAY PUBLIC HOLIDAYS 2009 The following public half day holidays have been gazetted by the NSW Department of Industrial Relations for the Kempsey Shire Council area:- • This Wednesday afternoon, 29 April 2009 for Kempsey Show Local public holidays are gazetted under the Banks and Banks Holidays Act of 1912. This act requires that banks are closed on local public holidays. An appointed local holiday under the Act benefits employees who have an industrial award, agreement or contract of employment which confers a right of paid absence (or penalty rates in lieu) on the local public holiday. In the absence of such express coverage within an applicable industrial instrument, the conferring of the benefit of a local public holiday to employees is entirely within the discretion of individual employers. Please note: the offices of Kempsey Shire Council will be closed from 12 noon, TOMORROW, 29 April 2009. NOTICE OF PROPOSED DEVELOPMENTS The following applications have been received and are notified in accordance with Council’s Policy.
The applications and plans relating to the developments to which this notice refers may be inspected at Council’s Customer First Centre, Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8.30am and 4.30pm from Monday to Friday (public holidays excepted) for the period stated above. At anytime during which the application may be inspected, any person: 1 who has received written notice of a proposed development from Council; or A person or associate of the person who makes a submission in relation to the application must make a disclosure of any reportable political donation or gift made in the previous 2 years (and up to the time the matter is determined). The disclosure (Disclosure Statement of Political Donations and Gifts) will need to accompany the submission. A Disclosure Form and further details can be obtained from Council’s website or Customer First Centre. If the application will need to be considered by Council, a precis of submissions received will be included in a report to Council for determination of the application. Copies of submissions may be included in the Appendices to the Business Paper unless specifically requested by the writer not to be included and the submission is clearly headed “confidential”.
