Safer Community Meeting
5:30pm this Thursday 9 February 2012

All residents with an interest in keeping the Macleay Valley community safe are invited to attend the next Safer Community Meeting. Come along and bring a neighbour or friend to discuss ways we can work together to make a difference.

Copies of our up-to-date Emergency Contact List and Anti-Crime Lobby Contact List will be available for everyone attending.

Road closure Kempsey-Armidale Road at Jobs Cutting

Council advises that, until further notice, the Kempsey-Armidale Road will be closed at Jobs Cutting, 72km west of Kempsey.

The road closure is to allow for essential works to stabilise the road embankment. An alternate route is available via Bellingen and Dorrigo (The Waterfall Way).

Road closures South West Rocks – Trial Bay Triathlon

Please be advised that due to the Trial Bay Triathlon to be held on 18 and 19 February 2012, the following roads will the closed during these events.

Cardwell St to Trial Bay Gaol.
2:30pm to 3:00pm Phillip Drive from Grey St, Wilson St, Russell St, Arakoon Rd to Gap Beach Rd, Cardwell St to Trial Bay Gaol.
3:30pm to 4:00pm Phillip Drive from Grey St, Wilson St, Russell St, Arakoon Rd to Lighthouse Rd, Cardwell St to Trial Bay Gaol.

Remember to pay your water bill

The December water bills have been issued and were due for payment by Sunday 29 January 2012.  If you have not paid your water bill please do so as soon as possible. It is important to pay by the due date to avoid additional fees and charges.

Interest is charged at 9% per annum and begins accruing from the due date.  And please note that payments made other than at Council may take up to 3 days to be credited to your account.

If you are having problems paying your account please contact our water accounts staff on 6566 3339 as Council is prepared to enter into a mutually agreeable arrangement to enable payment of this bill over a period of time.

Meter reading underway

Contract readers have just commenced reading water meters in the Shire. These 3 monthly water usage accounts will be issued and due for payment by the end of April 2012.

Dog owners are asked to ensure that Contract officers can access your properties water meter without interference from your dog.  Overgrown or buried water meters can also cause problems and may result in incorrect readings being registered. Please make sure your water meter is accessible at all times.

The applications and plans relating to the developments to which this notice refers may be inspected at Kempsey Shire Council, 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8.30am and 4.30pm from Monday to Friday (public holidays excepted) for the period stated above.

At anytime during which the application may be inspected, any person:

  1. who has received written notice of a proposed development from Council; or
  2. who owns land and who contends that his enjoyment of that land will be detrimentally affected if a proposed development is carried out; or
  3. who feels that a proposed development will adversely affect the character or amenity of the surrounding area may object in writing to council.

A person or associate of the person who makes a submission in relation to the application must make a disclosure of any reportable political donation or gift made in the previous 2 years (and up to the time the matter is determined).

The disclosure (Disclosure Statement of Political Donations and Gifts) will need to accompany the submission.  A Disclosure Form and further details can be obtained from Kempsey Shire Council or via Council’s website.

If the application will need to be considered by Council, a precis of submissions received will be included in a report to Council for determination of the application. Copies of submissions may be included in the Appendices to the Business Paper unless specifically requested by the writer not to be included and the submission is clearly headed “confidential”.
