The 28th Coastline Credit Union Trial Bay Triathlon and 25th Nestlé Junior Triathlon will be held in South West Rocks this weekend. Not for the faint hearted, Sunday’s main event incorporates a 500m swim, 25km cycle and 6km run.

The events are presented by the Trial Bay Triathlon Committee and sponsors Coastline Credit Union and South West Rocks Country Club, and all proceeds from the event will go to local charities and community groups.

Community safety meetings

PACC meeting - Monday 13 February, 2017

The first quarterly meeting of the Police and Aboriginal Consultative Committee (PACC) for 2017 will be held from 9:30am to 11:30am on Monday 13 February at Kempsey Shire Council Chambers located at 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey. With a focus on community safety and crime, the Aboriginal community are invited to attend.

CSPC meeting - Tuesday 14 February, 2017

The Community Safety Precinct Committee (CSPC) is the forum through which NSW Police Force and Government agencies consult the community and other key stakeholders on crime prevention and community safety issues at a local level.

A CSPC meeting will be held from 10am on Tuesday 14 February at Kempsey Shire Council chambers located at 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey. Local Area Commanders will present local crime information and raise awareness of crime prevention approaches. The community are invited to attend.

Baby Bounce @ KSC Library

Suited to children aged 0 to 2 years, Baby Bounce is a program< that focusses on simple activities like singing and sharing stories to help encourage a love of books and reading in very young children. Activities focussed around reading and literacy also help parents and carers learn new ways to engage their babies and toddlers.

Baby Bounce will be recommencing for 2017 on Friday 10 February from 10:30am to 11am. Sessions are free, held on the second Friday of every month and there is no requirement to book, just turn up and enjoy the fun!

  • Flood mitigation maintenance: School House Drain - weed clearing
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath/drainage maintenance: All areas - maintenance response as required
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching on Hat Head Road, Gowings Hill Road and Frederickton streets
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Bitumen sealing on Middleton Street, South Kempsey and Gamacks Lane, West Kempsey; demolish failed kerb and gutter, excavate and replace pavement on Cochrane Street and Short Street, West Kempsey
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Pipers Creek Road, Bottle Tree Lane, Mackenzies Creek Road, Oakland Road, Marys Bay Road, Houlihans Road
  • Roadside slashing: Macleay Valley Way (Kempsey to Frederickton), South West Rocks Road (Gladstone to Jerseyville), Plummers Lane, Summer Island Road, Smithtown Road, Armidale Road (Nulla Nulla Creek Road to Willawarrin, Nulla Nulla Creek Road, Hickeys Creek Road
  • Other works: Restore footpath and driveways on Macleay Valley Way (Creek Street to Chapman Street), Frederickton as part of Stage 2 streetscape upgrade; construct widened shoulder on Eden Street, Kempsey as part of Pedestrian Access and Mobility Project; excavation of Waste Management Centre for new waste cell construction
