Digital Marketing Training Scholarships now open

Kempsey Shire Council, with the support of the NSW Department of Industry's Future Towns Funding, is offering 30 scholarships, each worth $3,000, to eligible businesses across all industries within the Macleay Valley.

Recipients will receive customised digital marketing training to assist with the creation and updating of websites and development of strategies to attract more customers through social media.

Facilitated by marketing and brand expert Kirsten Basford, the program will be delivered in the form of short, sharp workshops and one-on-one mentoring over a 12-week period, starting on Monday 3 April.

Horseshoe Bay Playground

As part of Stage 2 of the Horseshoe Bay Playground upgrade, the community is invited to cast a vote on what piece of toddler equipment they would like to see installed. To choose between the three pieces of equipment, view photos and to fill out the survey, simply visit

Stage 1 of CHAMP community engagement enabled the development of a Community Discussion Paper which is now available on Your Say Macleay.

We have now reached Stage 2 and are encouraging you to complete the online survey and join the discussion to better inform the priority actions that will be outlined in the Master Plan on exhibition in June 2017.

Weekly works schedule

This week our crews will be working on:

Rehabilitation of path on Lachlan Street, South Kempsey
  • Bridge construction/maintenance: Provide rock bank protection at old bridge location and pour slab for new shower at Crescent Head foreshore
  • Flood mitigation maintenance: Clear Clancy's Drain and Anderson's Drain; refurbish lifting device at Clancy's Drain floodgates
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching on South West Rocks Road, Belmore River Right Bank Road and streets at Smithtown and Gladstone
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Continued rehabilitation of kerb, gutter and pavement on Cochrane, Short, and River streets, West Kempsey
  • Gravel road resheeting: Application of millings from highway upgrade on Upper Smiths Creek Road and Winstead Road
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Brassils Creek Road
  • Roadside slashing: Sherwood Road, Dungay Creek Road, Gowings Hill Road and South Kempsey area
  • Other works:Continued excavation of Waste Management Centre for construction of new waste cell; remove damaged sections and pour new Lord Street footpath (Macleay Valley Way to Herborne Avenue); install fence and pour kerb for drain as part of kerb and fence reinstatement on Belgrave Street; form and pour parking area for church as part of Frederickton streetscape; remove failed kerb and gutter on Chapman Street

Any person may make a written submission to the consent authority in relation to a development application during the exhibition period. If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. Please note that any submission received by Council may be made publicly available.

A person who makes a written submission to a development application is required to disclose all reportable political donations and gifts (if any) made by the person making the submission or any associate of that person within the period commencing two years before the submission is made and ending when the application is determined.
