Youth Week in the Macleay

National Youth Week logo

Youth Week will be held from 31 March to 9 April and this year’s theme is ‘Get involved, be heard, make a difference!’

A series of paste up self-portraits located in public spaces around Kempsey during Youth Week, the ‘Face Future, Future Face’ project celebrates the diverse and talented youth of the Macleay and is the culmination of art projects coordinated by KSC’s Community Relations team and local youth organisations and schools over the past 18 months.

Ahead of Youth Week commencing, a parent information night titled ‘How to talk to your Young Person about Mental Health’ will be run by Headspace School Support at Melville High School on Tuesday 28 March from 6pm to 8pm. This adults only session will cover a range of topics around how parents and carers can better VP your attendance.

Youth Homelessness Matters Day is on Wednesday 5 April and will this year involve an education and employment carnival at Kempsey Service Clubs Park from 10am to 2pm. Run by YP Space Mid North Coast in collaboration with various community agencies and businesses, there will be stalls, games, karaoke, a BBQ and more. All community members are encouraged to attend.

Council is supporting the Kempsey Healing Together Committee’s ‘Dash with a Splash’ - a 1.5km or 3km fun run or walk where participants will be splashed with all the colours of the rainbow. Taking place at Verge Street Oval on Thursday 6 April from 10am, there will also be music, prizes, a career expo, and a health focus. For more information contact the Durri Program Team on 6560 2330
