Increasing public awareness

Council resolved at an Extraordinary Meeting on 27 June tha a suite of documents be placed on public exhibition for a period of two weeks.

As such, updated Public Interest Evaluation Report, Long Term Financial Plan and Risk Management Plan documents are on the public exhibition section of Council’s website.

Children aged 7+ years are invited to attend this free magic workshop hosted by Dane the Great Magician at 10:30am Thursday 13 July at Kempsey Library.

Dane has an unusual style of magic which blends card manipulation and theatrical stage props utilising original music and sound.

Chad Walkaden

Cancer support workshop

Chad Walkaden is a three time cancer survivor and founder of specialist cancer coaching program The Cancer Blueprint.

Come along to Chad’s cancer support workshop at 11:30am on Friday 28 July at Kempsey Library to find out how a wide range of therapeutic support options can improve quality of life for people with cancer, their carers and family members.

Stuarts Point roadworks

Works will start on Monday 17 July on Stuarts Point Road from Lukes Lane to Hunters Road.

The $1.45 million of work involves widening and resurfacing the road to provide safer driving conditions and follows on from the 1.6km section of the road which was completed last year.

Weekly works schedule

Due to impact of wet weather, previously advised works were delayed. This week our crews will be working on:

Central Kempsey Sewer Treatment Plant site earthworks to continue
  • Bridge construction/maintenance: Install prefabricated composite bridge structure, backfill abutments and place rock protection for abutments on Whalens Bridge, Austral Eden Inner Road
  • Flood mitigation maintenance: General drains maintenance
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance: Customer requests as required
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching on Temagog Road, Gowings Hill Road, Spooners Avenue, Smithtown Road and South West Rocks Road (Kinchela to Jerseyville); heavy patching on Stuarts Point Road, Plummers Lane and Gregory Street
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Repair damaged pavement on River Street, West Kempsey; minor kerb repairs on North Street, West Kempsey; stabilise and prime seal Entrance Street, South West Rocks (weather permitting); continue widening and rehabilitation of Stuarts Point Road (Lukes Lane to Hunters Road); prime seal Stuart Street, Kempsey (weather permitting); remove damaged kerb and gutter on Lawson Street, South West Rocks and prepare for new kerb and gutter; prepare south side of Elizabeth Street, South West Rocks for kerb and gutter
  • Gravel road resheeting: Willi Willi Road (Temagog Road to Toorumbee Road)
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Willi Willi Road, Five Day Creek Road and Old Station Road
  • Roadside slashing: South West Rocks Road (Gladstone to Kempsey), Plummers Lane and West Kempsey area
  • Other works: Central Kempsey Sewage Treatment Plant access road and site earthworks; prepare Gregory Street/Gordon Young Drive for pedestrian refuge kerb as part of South West Rocks PAMP works; continue linemarking and installation of signs at Eden Street refuge as part of Kempsey PAMP works; prepare Elbow Street, West Kempsey for kerb and gutter following watermain replacement
