Documents on public exhibition

A range of documents are on public exhibition and the community is invited to review hard copies from Council offices or online in order to make a submission.

Draft Kempsey Shire Bike Plan
Friday 21 July - Thursday 17 August

Following community consultation, a Draft Kempsey Shire Bike Plan has been developed as part of Council seeking to guide policies, actions and grant applications around building and maintaining infrastructure to support recreational cycling across the Macleay.

Draft Flying Fox Camp Management Plan
Tuesday 25 July - Monday 21 August

A draft Management Plan for the flying fox camp at Rudder Park, Kempsey is now on public exhibition following the resolution of Council at the July meeting.

Crescent Head Area Master Plan (CHAMP)
Tuesday 25 July - Monday 21 August

Council has worked with the community to develop the Crescent Head Area Master Plan (CHAMP). This long term planning document will guide decisions made around planning for future social, economic and environmental change in Crescent Head. Following two stages of community consultation, a draft Crescent Head Area Master Plan has been developed for community comment.

Declutter workshop
2pm Wednesday 2 August

MIDWASTE’s popular Less is More de-clutter workshop is returning to Kempsey Library! The workshop is a fun and engaging way to help you think about what you buy while providing a range of useful tips and tools to prevent the clutter from returning and ways to dispose of it sustainably.

Tech Tuesday
2pm - 4pm, every Tuesday

Drop in on Tuesdays from 2pm to receive help navigating the many electronic services and resources accessible on the library’s website. Learn a language through Mango languages, use Computer School to learn new computer skills, get help creating an email, download electronic books, and learn how to search our databases. Bring in your own device or use one of our computers.

After school Maker Makey
3:30pm - 5pm Thursdays and Fridays (during school term)

Following on from the popularity of the Maker Party in a Box workshop in April, Kempsey Library will soon be running after school Makey Makey sessions. Featuring Sphero robots, Bee Bots floor robots and Little Bits digital inventor kits.

This week our crews will be working on:

Excavation for Nagles Fall Road bridge construction in Sherwood
  • Bridge construction/maintenance: Seal approaches on Whalens Bridge, Austral Eden (subject to contractor availability); excavate for base slabs and place foundations on Nagles Falls Road Bridge, Sherwood
  • Flood Mitigation Maintenance: Continue spraying of Cox. Coral weed in Clybucca area
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching on Armidale Road (Willawarrin to Bellbrook), Summer Island Road, and streets in Kempsey, Gladstone, Smithtown, Stuarts Point and South West Rocks
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Continue widening and rehabilitation of Stuarts Point Road (Lukes Lane to Hunters Road); linemarking on Stuart Street, Kempsey (weather and availability of contractor permitting); pour kerb and gutter on Lawson Street, South West Rocks (weather permitting); pour kerb and gutter and excavate pavement on Elizabeth Street, South West Rocks (weather permitting); pour kerb and gutter and prepare pavement on Jubilee Street, South West Rocks (weather permitting)
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Maria River Road, Toorumbee Road, Seale Road
  • Roadside slashing: Macleay Valley Way (Kempsey to Frederickton)
  • Other works: Central Kempsey Sewage Treatment Plant access road and site earthworks; trim and compact base layer and install lining of new waste call at Waste Management Centre; pour kerb and footpaths on Gregory Street/Gordon Young Drive for pedestrian refuge as part of South West Rocks PAMP works; continue linemarking on Eden Street refuge as part of Kempsey PAMP works (subject to contractor availability); form and pour footpaths on south side of Elbow Street, West Kempsey; remove damaged kerb, prepare and pour new kerb and gutter on north side of Elbow Street, West Kempsey; install subsoil drain, remove damaged kerb and gutter and prepare for new kerb and gutter on Tozer Street (Elbow Street to Marsh Street)
