Kempsey Show fireworks alert
Council is reminding residents to ensure their pets are secure when the fireworks display takes place on Saturday 16 September at this year’s Kempsey Show. The fireworks are scheduled to occur after the Aussie FXM display around 8pm.
Half-day local event
NSW Industrial Relations has declared Saturday 16 September from 12 midday a half-day local event in the Kempsey Shire Council area for Kempsey Show.
A declared local event day does not automatically mean employers are compelled to treat the day as a public holiday. Entitlements to staff will only apply when agreed to within the workplace, usually as an enterprise agreement or contract.

Classification of public land
Notice is hereby given that pursuant to Section 34 of the Local Government Act 1993, Council proposes to classify the land as detailed in the proposed resolution below. A period of 28 days from the date of this Notice is provided in which submissions on the proposed land classification may be lodged with Council. Council will consider any and all submissions made within the 28 day period prior to applying a classification to the land.
Proposed resolution
It is intended to classify Lot 1 DP1225534 (land adjoining the sewer pumping station in Leith Street, West Kempsey) as operational land.

Weekly works schedule
This week our crews will be working on:

- Bridge construction/maintenance: Form and pour base slab on Nulla Nulla Creek Road for Bunghole bridge replacement
- Flood mitigation maintenance: Clearing of Frogmore drain and Anderson’s drain
- Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance: Continue restoration of pavement on McIntyre Street, South West Rocks; excavate and prepare base for kerb and gutter replacement on Douglas Fentiman Street and Greenfields Avenue
- Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching on Armidale Road
- Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Stabilise pavement, bitumen seal and install subsoil drains as part of widening and rehabilitation of Stuarts Point Road (Lukes Lane to Mighell Road); asphalt surfacing Elizabeth Street, South West Rocks (Gregory Street to Jubilee Street); pour kerb, gutter and driveways as part of South Street rehabilitation
- Gravel road maintenance grading: Carrai Road, Pipers Creek Road, Spooners Avenue,Kemps Road, Old Coast Road
- Roadside slashing: Macleay Valley Way (Frederickton to Stuarts Point Road), South West Rocks Road (Kinchela to Jerseyville)
- Other works: Central Kempsey Sewage Treatment Plant access road and site earthworks; install leachate collection pipes and drainage layer of new waste cell at Waste Management Centre; continue forming and pouring footpaths as part of Elbow Street upgrade; form and pour centre wall of Tozer Street/Elbow Street roundabout

A development application and accompanying documents may be inspected at Kempsey Shire Council, 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8:30am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) during the exhibition period.
Any person may make a written submission to the consent authority in relation to a development application during the exhibition period. If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. Please note that any submission received by Council may be made publicly available.
A person who makes a written submission to a development application is required to disclose all reportable political donations and gifts (if any) made by the person making the submission or any associate of that person within the period commencing two years before the submission is made and ending when the application is determined. A disclosure statement form and further details can be obtained from Council’s website www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au
