Halloween Disco

The annual Frederickton Hall Halloween Fancy Dress Disco will be taking place on Saturday 28 October from 7pm.

Entry is $3 for children and $5 for adults and high school students. Children under 10 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Chips and drinks will be sold on the night and there will be great prizes for best dressed in a range of costume categories.

Aussie Backyard Bird Count

Residents of the Macleay are encouraged to take part in this year’s Aussie Backyard Bird Count during National Bird Week from 23-29 October. The Bird Count is a national tally which invites everyone to find an outdoor space and count all of the birds they see in a 20 minute timeframe.

Reclaim the Night - Take a stand against domestic violence

Macleay residents are invited to march in support of domestic violence prevention on Friday 27 October.

Organised by the Kempsey Domestic Violence Monitoring Committee, the Reclaim the Night march provides an opportunity for residents to take a stand against family violence in the Macleay.

A free barbecue will be held at Riverside Park from 5:30pm before the march begins and travels along Smith Street.

All involved will have the opportunity to place flowers in the river to honour the memories of women and children whose lives have been ended or impacted by violence in our area.

Koala bear

Report your koala sightings

With the koala breeding season being from now through to February, Council is calling on residents to report their sightings of koalas to help define their distribution, population and trends in the Macleay Valley.

Data collected from individual sightings will provide Council with valuable information that can be used to assist with future conservation planning.

Pavement replacement on South Street as part of extension
  • Bridge construction/maintenance: Install culvert sections and western wingwalls as part of Bunghole Bridge replacement on Nulla Nulla Creek Road
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance: Excavate and prepare base on Warwick Avenue as part of kerb and gutter replacement
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching of Armidale Road and Kempsey streets
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Extend culverts and widen shoulders on Stuarts Point Road (Lukes Lane to Mighell Road) as part of street rehabilitation; excavate South Street for pavement replacement as part of street rehabilitation
  • Gravel Resheeting: Place, spread and compact gravel on Suez Road and Jack Crossing Road; prepare Rainbow Reach Road for resheeting
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Dungay Creek Road
  • Roadside Slashing: South West Rocks Road (Kinchela to Jerseyville) and Macleay Valley Way (Kempsey to Frederickton
  • Other works: Central Kempsey Sewage Treatment Plant access road and site earthworks; lay turf on south side Elbow Street; form and pour footpath on north side Elbow Street; construct access road for new Waste Management Centre cell; bitumen seal Tozer Street/Marsh Street intersection; woodchip cleared vegetation, strip topsoil and commence earthworks as part of South Street extension from West Street to Gowings Hill Road

Any person may make a written submission to the consent authority in relation to a development application during the exhibition period. If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. Please note that any submission received by Council may be made publicly available.
