Aussie Backyard Bird Count

Aussie Bird Backyard Count

Residents of the Macleay are encouraged to take part in this year’s Aussie Backyard Bird Count during National Bird Week this week.

The Bird Count is a national tally which invites everyone to find an outdoor space and count all of the birds they see in a 20 minute timeframe.

Plan of Management info session

Kempsey Shire Council’s draft Plan of Management (POM) is currently on exhibition and feedback from the community via submission is welcomed.

The POM provides a framework for the management and development of Council-owned community land and establishes directions for planning, resource management and maintenance.

Community members are invited to a Public Information Session which will provide further information about POM and how to go about making a submission.

This week our crews will be working on:

Bunghole Bridge replacement works on Nulla Nulla Creek Road continue this week
  • Bridge construction/maintenance: Backfill over culverts, form and pour western headboard and apron slab as part of Bunghole Bridge replacement on Nulla Nulla Creek Road
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance: Backfill kerb and gutter on Cameron Street, Douglas Fentiman Street, Greenfields Avenue, Keith Dunn Street and Warwick Avenue
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching of Armidale Road (Woolshed Gully to Bellbrook) and Kempsey streets
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Extend culverts and pour concrete V-drain on Stuarts Point Road (Lukes Lane to Mighell Road) as part of widening and rehabilitation; excavate South Street for pavement replacement as part of street rehabilitation
  • Gravel Resheeting: Place, spread and compact gravel on Jacks Crossing Road and Rainbow Reach Road
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Dungay Creek Road and Kinchela Creek Right Bank Road
  • Roadside Slashing: South West Rocks Road (Kinchela to Jerseyville, Macleay Valley Way (Kempsey to Frederickton), Plummers Lane, Marys Bay Road, Euroka Road, Macleay Valley Way (Frederickton to Clybucca)
  • Other works: Central Kempsey Sewage Treatment Plant access road and site earthworks; lay turf on south side Elbow Street; form and pour footpath and install paver bands on north side Elbow Street; install islands on Elbow Street centre; woodchip cleared vegetation and continue earthworks as part of South Street extension from West Street to Gowings Hill Road; prepare Lachlan Street for drainage and upgrade works

A development application and accompanying documents may be inspected at Kempsey Shire Council, 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8:30am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) during the exhibition period.

Any person may make a written submission to the consent authority in relation to a development application during the exhibition period.
