Road closure

Macleay Street, East Kempsey

Please be advised that Macleay Street, East Kempsey will be closed for roadwork between 7:00am and 4:00pm on Wednesday 29 November, 2017.

Detours will be in place via Betts Street. Macleay Street residents will have access at all times as required.

Expression of Interest (TQE 17/33)

Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified consultants with the capability to undertake and prepare Scoping Studies for the Macleay River Estuary, Killick Creek Estuary and Korogoro Creek Estuary.

The studies are concurrent in accordance with the Draft Coastal Management Manual (OEH 2015), the requirements of the Coastal Management Act 2016 and the provisions and coastal management areas as defined in the Coastal Management SEPP.

Kempsey Riverside Twilight Markets

The Kempsey Riverside Twilight Markets will be held at Riverside Park, Kempsey on Saturday December 2 from 4pm-10pm.

There will be Carols by Candlelight with the Kempsey Silver Band at 8pm followed by a fireworks display at 8:30pm. Live acoustic music will also be a part of the event, with four local musicians set to perform.

The Macleay Valley Business Chamber is using funding they received through the Mayoral Community Fund grant this year to provide both the live music and fireworks display on the night.

Toy Library sale

The public are invited to grab a bargain at our December Toy Library sale. Items from the now discontinued toy library will be available and proceeds from the sale will be put back into children's resources and programs. Stock not sold will be given to local children's services identified as having a need.

Last Baby Bounce of the year

Join presenter Kim for a half hour of songs, rhymes and stories at the last session of Kempsey Library's popular Baby Bounce for 2017.

Designed to provide a fun learning environment for infants 0-3 years old, Baby Bounce is FREE to attend. Come along and join the fun!

Work continues on Lachlan street footpaths
  • Flood mitigation maintenance: Weed spraying at Glenrock Drain
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance: Remove and replace kerb and gutter in West Kempsey, Harold Coutman Street, James Carney Crescent
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching on Kempsey streets, Crescent Head streets and the Kundabung area; heavy patching Macleay Street, East Kempsey
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Install guardrail and bitumen seal Stuarts Point Road (Lukes Lane to Mighell Road) as part of widening and rehabilitation works; commence drainage works on South West Rocks Road (Pola Creek Road to Red Hill Lane)
  • Gravel Resheeting: Place, spread and compact gravel on Jacks Crossing Road; prepare and shape for resheeting Collombatti Road (end of bitument to Chain O Ponds road)
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Maria River Road, Mungay Creek Road,Dennis Road, Fishermans Reach Road; Pavans Access Road; Jacks Crossing Road
  • Roadside Slashing: Armidale Road, Stuarts Point Road; Grassy Head Road; Macleay Valley Way (Kempsey to Frederickton)
  • Other works: Central Kempsey Sewage Treatment Plant access road and site earthworks; install centre islands and form and pour side refuge islands on Elbow Street; continue earthworks and provide rock bridging layer and install box culverts on South Street as part of extension from West Street to Gowings Hill Road; construct footpath and commence drainage works for the second section on west side of Lachlan Street (Carri Street to Nicholson Street); install handrail and commence linemarking at Gregory Street pedestrian refuge (at Gordon Young Drive); construct stairs at Little Rudder Street; install deck and handrails on Riverside Park wharf
