Loftus Bridge repairs

Essential maintenance work is required to be undertaken on Loftus Bridge. The bridge joins the Belmore River Left Bank Road to the Right Bank Road opposite Loftus Road.

As no bypass is available the bridge will be closed to all traffic from 7.00am Monday 8 January to 4.00pm Thursday 25 January. An alternative river crossing is available at the floodgates approximately 7.5km to the north (not suitable for all vehicles).

Sherwood Road

Roadworks in Sherwood Road between the Sherwood Bridge and Gowings Hill Road are planned to commence on 15 January (weather permitting). The work involves widening, strengthening and resurfacing the road and requires the use of earthmoving plant and trucks. The roadwork is expected to take five weeks to complete.

South Street Extension - Gowings Hill Road

Gowings Hill Road

Road construction works for the connection of South Street from West Street to Gowings Hill Road have recommenced. Traffic at the western end has reverted to one-way flow under traffic signal control to allow final trimming of the embankment. A temporary speed zone may be enforced and motorists are requested to drive carefully through the work site.

The works are progressing ahead of schedule and now expected to be completed by late February (weather permitting).
