South Kempsey Park amenities closure

The public amenities building adjacent to the Visitor Information Centre at South Kempsey Park is currently undergoing full internal and external refurbishment. The amenities will be fenced off and closed to the public while the works are undertaken. It is expected to reopen in late April 2018. Alternative public toilets are available at the front of the Museum/Visitor Information Centre building.

Streaming video service now at Kempsey Shire Libraries

Kanopy online film service now available!

Library members can now access Kanopy - a new streaming video service - and watch a variety of popular films and documentaries via computer or by using apps on a tablet or smart phone.

The collection includes titles like Perfect Strangers, Jasper Jones and Girl Asleep.

Kanopy’s main homepage will continually change and update with new selections. It is currently highlighting films from the Sundance Film Festival.

Library members will receive 6 play credits each month. Each film uses 1 play credit. At the start of each month your play credits will be replenished. Customers can also rate and leave comments on the films.

Simply click on the Kanopy icon on the library’s website to get started. You will need to create an account by logging in with an email address, Facebook or Google account and then enter your Kempsey Library card number.

Police and Aboriginal Consultative Committee (PACC) Meeting

The next meeting of the Police and Aboriginal Consultative Committee (PACC) will be held on Monday 12 February in the Council Chambers Committee Room at 9:30am.

The PACC meet quarterly to address Aboriginal issues associated with community safety and crime. These meetings are not forums for broader community issues but are open to the Aboriginal community and are inclusive of gender and age.

Light refreshments will be provided for attendees.

Weekly works schedule

This week our crews will be working on:

Gowings Hill Road and Lika Drive intersection
  • Bridge construction/maintenance: Various bridge inspections
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance: Pour kerb and gutter on Robert Eggins Street and Chifley Place; backfill and restore kerb and gutter on New Street, Taylor Street, Robert Eggins Street and Chifley Place
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching on Gowings Hill Road and Crescent Head Road
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Widen formation of Sherwood Road (Sherwood Bridge towards Gowings Hill Road) as part of rehabilitation works
  • Gravel road resheeting: Final trim gravel Collombatti Road (end of bitumen to Chain o Ponds Road); place, trim and compact gravel Seashore Lane
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Hickeys Creek Road, Tamban Road, Billybyang Road and Seven Hills Road
  • Roadside slashing: South West Rocks Road, Belmore River Right Bank, Crottys Lane, Spooners Avenue, Collombatti Road, Crescent Head area
  • Other works:
    • Earthworks, prime seal, hydromulch batters, cycleway and relocate overhead powerline as part of South Street extension (from West Street to Gowings Hill Road) ;
    • Remove existing kerb and gutter, pour kerb and gutter, install drainage pipes as part of South Kempsey streetscape upgrade (Nicholson to Carri Streets - east side)

A development application and accompanying documents may be inspected at Kempsey Shire Council, 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8:30am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) during the exhibition period.

Any person may make a written submission to the consent authority in relation to a development application during the exhibition period. If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. Please note that any submission received by Council may be made publicly available.

A person who makes a written submission to a development application is required to disclose all reportable political donations and gifts (if any) made by the person making the submission or any associate of that person within the period commencing two years before the submission is made and ending when the application is determined.
