Visit Council’s stand in the Exhibition Hall at this year's Kempsey Show, taking place at Kempsey Showground on the 10th - 11th April. We will have customer service staff available, waste experts, Council’s 2018-2019 plans available and plenty of activities for the kids.

Plans on public exhibition

COver of draft 2018-2019 Operating Plan

The draft 2018-2019 Operating Plan for Kempsey Shire Council includes investment next financial year of more than $10 million on refurbishing the roads and bridges network, along with millions of dollars of spending in sewerage and water management infrastructure.

The draft Operating Plan listing the activities, projects and ongoing services that Council will deliver in the coming financial year, is on public exhibition during April. Also, on exhibition is the Long Term Financial Plan and the proposed Fees and Charges for the 2018-2019 year.

Weekly works schedule

This week our crews will be working on:

McIntyres Bridge pile boring continues on Nulla Nulla Creek Road
  • Bridge construction/maintenance: Install McIntyres Bridge piles on Nulla Nulla Creek Road; install Schmidts Bridge piles on Schmidts Road (contract); establish site on Kinchela Creek Left Bank Road for Knauers Bridge replacement
  • Flood mitigation maintenance: Check all gates and remove flood debris; replace refurbished Andersons floodgates
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance: Form and pour footpath on Tozer Street as part of replacement works
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching on Armidale Road, Euroka/Dondingalong area and Blackbutt Shute Road; heavy patching on Toorooka Road (at cattle grid)
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Form and pour islands on Tozer Street (Elbow Street to Marsh Street) and excavate (Elbow Street to Kemps Street) for kerb and gutter; extend pipe culverts on Plummers Lane (Macleay Valley Way to 1.2km) as part of rehabilitation; linemarking on Elbow Street (Tozer Street to River Street); excavate, place and compact pavement on Elbow/River Street service road as part of reconstruction
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Maria River Road, Seale Road, O’Neills Road, Bellbrook unsealed streets and Gap Creek Road
  • Roadside slashing: Maria River Road, Blairs Lane, South West Rocks Road, Macleay Valley Way (Frederickton to Stuarts Point Road, Austral Eden area and Belmore River area
  • Other works:
    • Turf footpaths on Lachlan Street (Carri Street to Nicholson Street), South Kempsey
    • Asphalt surfacing and turf footpaths on Lachlan Street (Nicholson Street to Yarravel Street), South Kempsey
    • Continue concrete cutting on Macleay Valley Way, Bellimbopinni as part of pavement repairs
    • Continue stripping of vegetation from edges of Macleay Valley Way (Bellimbopinni to Plummers Lane) as part of shoulder replacement

A development application and accompanying documents may be inspected at Kempsey Shire Council, 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8:30am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) during the exhibition period.

Any person may make a written submission to the consent authority in relation to a development application during the exhibition period. If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. Please note that any submission received by Council may be made publicly available.

A person who makes a written submission to a development application is required to disclose all reportable political donations and gifts (if any) made by the person making the submission or any associate of that person within the period commencing two years before the submission is made and ending when the application is determined.
