June Council meeting date change

The date of the June ordinary meeting of Council previously advertised as Tuesday 19 June 2018 has been changed to Tuesday 26 June 2018. The meeting will commence at 9:00am and be held at Council Chambers located at 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey.

Apply for ClubGRANTS funding

Each year through ClubGRANTS, clubs across NSW provide support to tens of thousands of local community organisations, sporting groups and charities that make a difference in their local area. With more than $1 billion in funding provided since the program’s inception, ClubGRANTS is one of the largest grants programs in Australia.

The Kempsey Macleay ClubGRANTS round for Category 1 projects and services is now open. To be eligible for Category 1 funding you must be a not-for-profit organisation and provide one or more of the following to the Kempsey Macleay community:

  • Welfare and social services
  • Community development services
  • Employment assistance activities
  • Community health services
  • Projects aimed at improving the living standards of low income and disadvantaged people

Expression of Interest

TQE 18/6 - Noise Management Plan and Fly Neighbourly Agreement for Kempsey Airport

Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified consultants with the capability to develop a Fly Neighbourly Agreement (FNA) and Noise Management Plan (NMP) for Kempsey Airport. The NMP and FNA will be used to guide future activity at Kempsey Airport with the aim of effectively managing the noise and potential disturbance associated with airport use.

All submissions must be received by 4pm Thursday 31 May 2018. Electronic submissions as PDF documents submitted via TenderLink are preferred. However, hard copies will be accepted and must be forwarded by post and postmarked no later than the due date.

Original submissions are to be posted to Director Corporate & Commercial, Kempsey Shire Council, PO Box 3078, West Kempsey NSW 2440 and be clearly marked ‘Expression of Interest TQE 18/6 - Invitation to provide a proposal to develop a Fly Neighbourly Agreement (FNA) and Noise Management Plan (NMP) for Kempsey Airport’.

Works on Schmidt's Bridge, Nulla Nulla Creek continue this week
  • Bridge construction/maintenance: Install deck units on Nulla Nulla Creek Road as part of McIntyres Bridge replacement; install abutment sheeting and headstocks on Schmidts Road as part of Schmidts Bridge works; install guardrail to approaches and restore disturbed areas of Knauers Bridge on Kinchela Creek Left Bank Road
  • Flood mitigation maintenance: Structures maintenance
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance and replacement: Repair damaged pipe joints and replace defective stormwater pipes on Michael Place, South West Rocks; replace failed kerb and gutter on Memorial Avenue, Kempsey; replace failed kerb and gutter on George Hardiman Avenue, West Kempsey
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching on South Kempsey streets, Nance Road, Spooners Avenue and in Yarravel area
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Construct permanent concrete median islands on Tozer Street (Elbow Street to Marsh Street); prime seal Tozer Street - west side (Elbow Street to Kemp Street); replace failed kerb and gutter on Tozer Street - south side (Elbow Street to Kemp Street); extend pipe culverts on Plummers Lane Valley Way to 1.2km) and strip vegetation from shoulders; backfill kerb and shoulder on Elbow/River Street; prepare and bitumen seal Sherwood Road (Ronella Drive to Hillview Drive) as part of rehabilitation works
  • Gravel resheeting: Point Plomer Road
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Point Plomer Road, Beranghi Road and Five Day Creek Road
  • Roadside slashing: South Kempsey area, Plummers Lane and Armidale Road
  • Other works:
    • Excavate for kerb and gutter and continue drainage works on Lachlan Street, South Kempsey from Nicholson Street to Yarravel Street
    • Remove and replace failed concrete pavement on Macleay Valley Way, Bellimbopinni

A development application and accompanying documents may be inspected at Kempsey Shire Council, 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8:30am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) during the exhibition period.

Any person may make a written submission to the consent authority in relation to a development application during the exhibition period. If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. Please note that any submission received by Council may be made publicly available.

A person who makes a written submission to a development application is required to disclose all reportable political donations and gifts (if any) made by the person making the submission or any associate of that person within the period commencing two years before the submission is made and ending when the application is determined.
