Gladstone Memorial Park upgrade

Kempsey Shire Council wants to hear from the community about plans to upgrade Gladstone Memorial Park.

Council recently received $175,000 from the NSW Government towards an upgrade of the Gladstone Memorial Park playground, footpaths and amenities block. The Gladstone Markets Committee has also supported the project and donated $12,000 towards the upgrade with Council contributing a further $225,000

This week our crews will be working on:

Macleay Valley Way works continue this week
  • Bridge construction/maintenance: Clean up site and open McIntyres Bridge on Nulla Nulla Creek Road to the public; install deck units and kerbs on Schmidts Road as part of Schmidts Bridge works
  • Flood mitigation maintenance: Structures maintenance
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance and replacement: Pour footpaths and form pedestrian ramps on Michael Place, South West Rocks as part of stormwater pipe defect rectification; install pedestrian refuge on Gill Street, East Kempsey; realign kerbs and pedestrian refuge on Gregory Street/Arthur Street, South West Rocks
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching on South West Rocks Road; heavy patching on Macleay Street, East Kempsey
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Construct permanent concrete median islands on Tozer Street (Elbow Street to Marsh Street); remove failed kerb and gutter and prep for replacement on Tozer Street east (Elbow Street to Kemp Street); extend pipe culverts on Plummers Lane (Macleay Valley Way to 1.2km) and strip vegetation/soil from shoulders; restore verges on Sherwood Road (Ronella Drive to Hillview Drive) as part of rehabilitation works
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Five Day Creek Road, Belgrave Falls Road, Nagles Falls Road, Yessabah Road
  • Roadside slashing: West Kempsey area, Macleay Valley Way (Kempsey to Frederickton) and South West Rocks Road
  • Other works:
    • Continue drainage works and form half layback to Caltex on Lachlan Street, South Kempsey (Nicholson Street to Yarravel Street);
    • Remove and replace failed concrete pavement on Macleay Valley Way, Bellimbopinni;
    • Mill existing sealed shoulders and replace Macleay Valley Way (Bellimbopinni to Plummers Lane) with asphalt;
    • Widen and asphalt shoulder south of Greenwattle Creek and asphalt resurface adjacent Slim Dusty Centre on Macleay Valley Way, South Kempsey

A development application and accompanying documents may be inspected at Kempsey Shire Council, 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8:30am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) during the exhibition period.

Any person may make a written submission to the consent authority in relation to a development application during the exhibition period. If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. Please note that any submission received by Council may be made publicly available.

A person who makes a written submission to a development application is required to disclose all reportable political donations and gifts (if any) made by the person making the submission or any associate of that person within the period commencing two years before the submission is made and ending when the application is determined. A disclosure statement form and further details can be obtained from Council’s website www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au
