There are new employment opportunities available at Kempsey Shire Council

Macleay waterways survey

Kempsey Traffic Bridge

Do you regularly use the Macleay River, Killick Creek or Korogoro Creek? Council wants to know how and when you use these waterways and how you would like to see them looked after.

Community feedback is a vital part of Council developing new coastal management programs for these estuaries to ensure future management is in line with public expectations.

A number of online surveys have been developed to obtain your feedback. Visit Council’s online engagement portal Your Say Macleay at  to take the surveys today!

Child in car seat

Free child car seat check

Council, in partnership with Roads and Maritime Services, will be holding a free child safety seat checking day to assist families with the correct use and fitting of child restraints in their cars.

The event will be held at the Macleay Pensioners Hall on the corner of Clyde and Stuart streets, Kempsey on Friday 29 June from 10am to 1pm.

Bookings are essential. Please contact Council’s Community Safety Officer on 6566 3282 to book.

Saving lives on Macleay road

In 2016, more than three quarters of drivers and riders involved in fatal crashes across the State were country residents. The statistics show that 61 per cent of these country residents crashed in the same local government area where they lived. It is our residents who are dying and suffering injuries in our own community.

Council is asking residents to test their knowledge of the road rules by filling out an online survey. Your feedback will also assist Council in better understanding the driving behaviours of Macleay Valley residents.
