Notice of proposed road names
Two currently unnamed Crown Roads located within Council boundaries in Bellbrook and Yarravel, and one currently unnamed Right of Way located within Council boundaries in Bellbrook, require naming to rectify property addressing issues and to ensure properties are clearly identifiable to emergency services.
Upon recommendation from Macleay River Historical Society, Kempsey Shire Council proposes the Crown Roads be named Burrayi Glade (Bellbrook) and Friarbird Place (Yarravel) and the Right of Way be named Dhalayi Glade (Bellbrook).

Council is calling for submissions regarding the proposed names. Submissions addressed to the General Manager should be posted to Kempsey Shire Council, PO Box 3078, West Kempsey, NSW 2440 or emailed to ksc@kempsey.nsw.gov.au

NAIDOC march partial road closure
There will be partial street closures in Kempsey on Monday 9 July from 10am for the annual NAIDOC Week community march.
The march will commence at Kempsey pool on Belgrave Street at 10:30am and proceed left onto Clyde Street mall, left onto Forth Street and conclude at Services Club Park at 11:30am.
Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.

Kempsey Library’s Christmas In July ‘Feast of Authors’
Come and enjoy a delicious Christmas In July themed morning tea and hear a panel of world renowned authors discuss their careers and book inspirations at Kempsey Shire Library’s ‘Feast of Authors’.
The event will be held on Wednesday 25 July from 10:30am to 12:30pm and feature authors Fiona McArthur, Shannon Garner, Annie Seaton, Tamara McWilliam, Jenn J McLeod and Bronwyn Parry.

Weekly works schedule
This week our crews will be working on:

- Bridge construction/maintenance: Clean up and demobilise McIntyres Bridge on Nulla Nulla Creek Road and Schmidts Bridge on Schmidts Road; continue construction of Jerseyville Wharf
- Flood mitigation maintenance: Commence Clancy’s drain gate replacement; commence Belmore/Kinchela floodgate rust prevention works
- Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance and replacement: Complete traffic islands on Gregory Street/Arthur Street, South West Rocks and demobilise worksite
- Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Complete pothole patching on Sherwood Road, Airport Road, South West Rocks streets, Arakoon streets and Aldavilla streets; complete bitumen sealing as part of heavy patching works on Washington Street, East Kempsey
- Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Fill traffic islands with select soils on Tozer Street (Elbow Street to Kemp Street); complete pipe culvert extensions and continue shoulder widening on Plummers Lane (Macleay Valley Way to 1.2km) as part of rehabilitation works
- Gravel resheeting: Maria River Road
- Gravel road maintenance grading: Armidale Road, Pee Dee Road and Dungay Creek Road
- Roadside slashing: Complete roadside slashing on South West Rocks Road and in West Kempsey area
- Other works:
- Complete Caltex driveways and install kerb and gutter between Caltex driveways (Nicholson Street to Yarravel Street)
- Remove and replace failed concrete pavement on Macleay Valley Way, Bellimbopinni
- Complete pouring of Stuarts Point footpath

A development application and accompanying documents may be inspected at Kempsey Shire Council, 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8:30am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) during the exhibition period.
Any person may make a written submission to the consent authority in relation to a development application during the exhibition period. If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. Please note that any submission received by Council may be made publicly available.
A person who makes a written submission to a development application is required to disclose all reportable political donations and gifts (if any) made by the person making the submission or any associate of that person within the period commencing two years before the submission is made and ending when the application is determined.
