How to find the right staff for my small business?

A recent survey showed that a whopping 50 percent of small business owners have a hard time finding the right skilled workers to fill their open positions. Come along and hear from local businesses about the strategies they are undertaking.

Grant and Tendering Workshop

Wednesday 31 October 2018 - Slim Dusty Centre, 5:30pm - 7:30pm, $20

Are you thinking of applying for funding? This workshop will contain general information on writing funding applications, as well as information about funding streams that are available to support events and community organisations.

These workshops are part of the Small Business Month initiative, funded by the NSW Government through the Department of Industry and Kempsey Shire Council

Red Cedar Festival workshops for students

These exclusive free workshops will give students training and hands on experience in several jobs involved in live entertainment events
such as festivals. Event coordinator, and performing artist, Liam Moylan will teach students about many necessary roles, from event planning to performance tricks, lighting and operating a sound desk.

Students will then put their new skills to the test at the 2018 Red Cedar Festival taking place on Saturday 17 November at Kempsey Skate Park.

Workshops will include:

  • Overview of event coordination
  • Hands on sounds and lighting experience
  • Stage management
  • Performance training
  • + a performance slot at Red Cedar Festival 2018!

Workshops will take place on Thursday afternoons in Term 4 from 4:30pm - 6pm at Oddfellows Hall, 22 Kemp Street, West Kempsey.

This week our crews will be working on:

Bissett Street, East Kempsey footpath replacement
  • Bridge construction/maintenance: Remove and replace defective components at Harry’s Gully Bridge on Carrai Road
  • Flood mitigation maintenance: Clearing of Sillitoe’s Drain; continue spraying in Belmore River area; continue maintenance and refurbishment of Clancy’s Drain
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance: Pour new kerb and gutter on Bloomfield Street, South Kempsey; backfill kerb and shoulder and seal shoulder on Macquarie Street, South Kempsey; remove and replace failed footpath on Rudder Street/Bissett Street, East Kempsey
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching in Kundabung area, Euroka area and Kempsey Streets
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Tree planting on Tozer Street (Elbow Street to Kemp Street); restore verges on Plummers Lane (Macleay Valley Way to 1.2km)
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Balls Road and Winstead Road
  • Roadside slashing: South West Rocks Road (East Kempsey to Kinchela)
  • Other works:
    • Fill centre island with soil, construct splitter islands and install flagpoles at Middleton Street/Lachlan Street roundabout
