Request for Quote - TQE18/19

Invitation to provide a fee proposal to develop a ten-year Economic Development and Tourism Strategy

Council is inviting submissions from suitable candidates to provide a fee proposal for the development of a ten-year Economic Development and Tourism Strategy.

The Strategy will contain the Destination Management Plan within its framework and be used to assist Council set the direction for economic development and tourism through until 2030.

Submissions must be clearly marked ‘TQE18/19 - Invitation to provide a fee proposal to develop a ten-year Economic Development and Tourism Strategy’ and will be accepted via Council’s online tendering website TenderLink at www.tenderlink.com/kempsey  by hand at 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey 2440 NSW or by post at PO Box 3078, West Kempsey NSW 2440.

2019 Australia Day Awards

Do you know someone making a positive difference in our community? Why not nominate them for an Australia Day Award.

Awards will be presented in the categories Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Community Group of the Year.

Nominations will close 4:30pm, Friday 30 November 2018.

The 2019 Awards will be presented at the Slim Dusty Centre on Australia Day Eve, Friday 25 January 2019.

Art of Ageing Exhibition launch

Macleay Valley residents are encouraged to challenge their views on older people by visiting the 2018 Art of Ageing Exhibition at Kempsey Shire Library this November.

A learner driver, gymnast and local South West Rocks ukulele player, Rita Lucas, are among the extraordinary older people who feature in the 2018 exhibition, which celebrates the lives of older people living in regional NSW.

The launch of the exhibition will take place on Thursday 1 November at 10:30am and feature special guest, local talent and Art of Ageing Exhibition subject, Rita Lucas. Light refreshments will be provided.

Red Cedar Festival banner

Red Cedar Festival workshops

Workshops will be held on Thursday afternoons in Term 4 from 4:30pm-6pm at Oddfellows Hall, 22 Kemp Street, West Kempsey for young people wanting to gain event management skills. Students will then put their new skills to the test at the 2018 Red Cedar Festival taking place on Saturday 17 November at Kempsey Skate Park.

The free workshops will give students training and hands-on experience in jobs involved in festivals and live entertainment events. Areas covered will be event coordination, hands-on sound and lighting experience, stage management and performance training.

Middleton Street roundabout works are nearing completion
  • Bridge construction/maintenance: Remove and replace defective components of Latta’s Bridge on Carrai Road
  • Flood mitigation maintenance: Clearing of Barnett’s Drain and Anderson’s Drain; continue maintenance and refurbishment of Clancy’s Drain; spraying of Clancy’s Drain and Buchanan’s Drain
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance: Reconstruct New Street dish drain as part of Bloomfield Street, South Kempsey kerb and gutter works; replace failed kerb and gutter on Kemp Street, West Kempsey
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Complete pothole patching on Armidale Road; complete gravel shoulder works on West Street, South Kempsey; complete Smithtown remedial shoulder work
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Continue shoulder widening on Plummers Lane; complete pavement formation and start resheet of Willi Willi Road
  • Gravel resheeting: Warbro Brook Road, Brassils Creek Road and Willi Willi Road
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Complete grading on Upper Smiths Creek Road
  • Roadside slashing: South West Rocks Road, Old Station Road, Crescent Head Road, Beranghi Road, Ronald Lyne Drive and Settlers Way
