Extraordinary Council meeting

An extraordinary Council meeting will be held on Tuesday 4 December 2018 commencing 2:30pm at the Council Chambers located at 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey.

The meeting is to consider the Kempsey Airport Noise Management Plan and Fly Neighbourly Agreement.

The public is welcome to attend. An agenda will be available Friday 30 November 2018 from Council’s Customer Service Centre.

2019 Australia Day Awards nominations extended

Do you know someone making a positive difference in our community? Why not nominate them for an Australia Day Award.

Awards will be presented in the categories Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Community Group of the Year.

The nomination period has been extended and will now close 4:30pm Tuesday 11 December 2018.

The 2019 Awards will be presented at the Slim Dusty Centre on Australia Day Eve, Friday 25 January 2019.

This week our crews will be working on:

The Frederickton Gateway Sculpture will be complete this week
  • Bridge construction/maintenance: Complete form and pour backing slabs at Black Bullocks; complete footbridge inspections and repairs
  • Flood mitigation maintenance: Continue refurbishment of Euroka Creek floodgates; sandblast and paint Clancy’s drain floodgates; complete drain spraying at Willow Drain
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance: Complete replacement of failed kerb and gutter on Kemp Street, West Kempsey and clean up site; commence footpath works on Kemp Street, West Kempsey near courthouse; install asphalt around islands at Middleton/Lachlan Street roundabout, South Kempsey; complete surface dish drain on Plummers Lane
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Continue pavement patching in South West Rocks; commence edge break repairs on Gowings Hill Road; commence patching of public carparks in various locations
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Tyne and shape Plummers Lane/Summer Island Road works and commence placement of base layer; commence Hutcheson/Bay Street, Hat Head works
  • Gravel resheeting: Grade and final trim Warbro Brook Road as part resheeting works
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Commence Warbro Brook Road and Maria River Road grading; complete Point Plomer Road grading
  • Roadside slashing: Complete Macleay Valley Way roadside slashing
  • Minor works: Replace section of ageing footpath on Gladstone Street, Kempsey
  • Open Space operations: Plant tree in the middle of Middleton/Lachlan Street roundabout in South Kempsey

A development application and accompanying documents may be inspected at Kempsey Shire Council, 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8:30am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) during the exhibition period.

Any person may make a written submission to the consent authority in relation to a development application during the exhibition period. If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. Please note that any submission received by Council may be made publicly available.

A person who makes a written submission to a development application is required to disclose all reportable political donations and gifts (if any) made by the person making the submission or any associate of that person within the period commencing two years before the submission is made and ending when the application is determined.
