Draft Noise Management Plan and Fly Neighbourly Advice

Council has been undertaking a multistep project to review operations at the Kempsey Airport and develop a Noise Management Plan (NMP) and Fly Neighbourly Advice (FNA).

In August 2017, Council resolved to appoint a Community Reference Group, now referred to as the Kempsey Airport Reference Group (KARG). Specialist consultants, The Airport Group (TAG), were engaged in July 2018 to conduct a noise study and use that data to prepare the draft NMP and FNA documents.

Following Council’s December 2018 resolution to make amendments and facilitate a further review meeting between TAG and KARG, the draft documents are now open for community comment and feedback.

The documents will be on public exhibition for 12 weeks and a community workshop/information session is being planned for late March 2019

Connecting Culture: Tracing Ancestors workshop at Kempsey Library

Do you want to trace your Aboriginal family history but don’t know where to start?

Join the State Library’s Indigenous Services team at Kempsey Library on Thursday 7 March for a Connecting Culture: Tracing Ancestors workshop.

The workshop will outline resources and strategies that may assist you in your research including how to search the Library’s collections, discussion of significant collections held at the Library relating to the local area, and tips for using other important resources for Aboriginal family history research.

The workshop will also include a Q&A session with the Indigenous Services team.
