Roadside spraying April 2019

Kempsey Shire Council will be undertaking the spraying of roadside, guardrail and bridge approaches during the month of April (weather permitting). Chemicals used are Glyphosate (Roundup) with an additive (Oust).

Guardrail and bridge approaches that will be sprayed are: Austral Eden, Belmore River, Collombatti Road, Crescent Head Road, Dungay Creek Road, Euroka Road, Gowings Hill Road, Grassy Head Road, Hat Head Road, Kinchela Creek, Loftus Road, Maria River Road, Phillip Drive (South West Rocks), Plummers Lane, Sherwood Road, Smithtown Road, South West Rocks Road, Spooners Avenue, Stuarts Point Road and Summer Island Road.

Draft Verge and Eden Street Sporting Complex Masterplan

The draft Verge and Eden Street Sporting Complex Masterplan is on public exhibition for community feedback. The draft Masterplan reflects the Macleay Valley Sports Strategy and includes the reconfiguration of sporting fields, a new turf wicket, improved car parking and a new purpose-built clubhouse and amenities. The draft Masterplan is available to view on Council's website www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au/exhibition or can be viewed at Council's offices and libraries. Submissions must be made in writing, addressed to the General Manager, by close of business Tuesday, 30 April 2019.

Stuarts Point Forshore

Stuarts Point foreshore upgrade

A draft Development Plan to upgrade the Stuarts Point Foreshore Reserve including the Holiday Park is on public exhibition seeking community feedback. The upgrade includes $3.4 million of works to create a new two lane boat ramp and carpark, expanded BBQ and picnic facilities, a new playground, performance space, timber boardwalk, new amenities and new entrance and office for the Holiday Park.

The draft Plan is available to view from Council’s engagement website https://yoursay.macleay. nsw.gov.au  or hardcopies can be viewed at Council offices and libraries. Submissions must be made in writing, addressed to the General Manager, by close of business Tuesday 23 April, 2019.

Macleay Valley Coast and Kempsey Macleay Photographic Club are inviting you to submit your best photos of the Macleay Valley throughout April for the #llovetheMacleayValleyCoast photo competition.

Photos can be submitted via Facebook or lnstagram until midnight on 30 April 2019. A selection panel from Kempsey Shire Council and Kempsey Macleay Photographic Club will assess the submissions and announce the winners on www.macleayvalleycoast.com  and the Macleay Valley Coast Facebook page on 6 May 2019 at 11 am

Bitumen road construction and rehabllltatlon

Crews prepare to seal Armidale Road at Jacks Crossing

Council is undertaking bitumen road construction and rehabilitation projects along Hat Head and Armidale roads as part of its 2018-19 infrastructure program.

Crews have placed a base layer on Armidale Road at Jacks Crossing and installed drainage and will begin seal preparations this week.

Edging work, shoulder widening and the laying of subbase gravel will continue in Hat Head Road, while bitumen road re-sealing and maintenance work will commence in several Kempsey streets.

Gravel road maintenance grading will begin in Seven Hills and Collombatti roads at Collombatti and be completed in Swan Lane.

The itemised list of other planned works for this week in bridge construction, flood mitigation, drainage, kerb and footpath maintenance, roadside slashing, open space works and other projects is available on Council’s website from Tuesdays.

Any person may make a written submission to the consent authority in relation to a development application during the exhibition period. If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. Please note that any submission received by Council may be made publicly available.

A person who makes a written submission to a development application is required to disclose all reportable political donations and gifts (if any) made by the person making the submission or any associate of that person within the period commencing two years before the submission is made and ending when the application is determined.
