Expression of Interest (TQE 19/10)

Council is seeking Expressions of Interest for the appointment of a permanent Principal Contractor to operate the Bellbrook Waste Transfer Station from 1 July 2019 for a 3-5 year contract term (3 years with 2 single year options at Council’s sole discretion). The site must open for domestic customers every Wednesday and Sunday from l0am to 3pm (except on NSW public holidays).

The site is provided ‘as is’ and located at Lot 1031 Main Street Bellbrook (DP-1128172) to service the local surrounding community. The next nearest council waste facility is almost an hour away but open every day at 683 Crescent Head Road, Kempsey. The Principal Contractor will be responsible for complying with all NSW legislation, regulations and Council requirements, and operating the site to be consistent with other Shire Waste Transfer Stations.

Two shorebirds

Macleay shorebirds information information

A Council-commissioned survey of migratory and resident shorebirds in the Macleay River Estuary and adjoining coastline has identified important habitats and potential site-specific threats.

Results from the survey will be shared at an information session at South West Rocks Surf Life Saving Club at 10am on Friday 17 May where community input will be sought on managing threats to habitat.

I love the Macleay Valley Coast photo exhibition

Come along to the launch of the I love the Macleay Valley Coast photo exhibition at the Slim Dusty Centre this Thursday 16 May from 5:30pm-7pm. The exhibition, on display until 16 June, will feature the best entries from Macleay Valley Coast and Kempsey Macleay RSL Photographic Club’s popular I love the Macleay Valley Coast photo competition.

Entry to the launch event is a gold coin donation. A glass of bubbles will be provided on anival with light refreshments served.

We will also welcome Nulla Nulla Koala, part of the multi-award winning Hello Koalas Trail, back to Kempsey. Library and Information Week 2019

Library and Information Week 2019 runs from 20-26 May and is all about showcasing the wide range of services and resources available at local libraries. This years theme is Truth, Integrity and Knowledge. To celebrate Library and Information Week, Kempsey Shire library will be holding the following free events.

Technology help sessions

On Monday 20 May, Tuesday 21 May and Wednesday 22 May from 10am-12 midday, Kempsey Library will be holding 30-minute one-on-one technology help sessions aimed at increasing users’ confidence with computers and mobile devices. Book your session today!

National Simultaneous Storytime

Every year as part of Library and Information week, a picture book is read simultaneously in libraries, schools and bookshops around the country. Come along to National Simultaneous Slorytime at Kempsey Library on Wednesday May 22 from 10:45am to read Alpacas with Maracas and meet special guest Buddy the Read-A-Lot-A-Saurus.

Weekly works schedule

Kerb and guttering is almost complete in Lachlan Street, South Kempsey

Works to deliver Council’s $322,092 kerb and gutter replacement program for 2018-19 are continuing across the Shire.

Crews have completed kerbing in Belmore Street at Crescent Head and will this week focus on installing kerb and guttering in Lachlan Street, South Kempsey. In other works, a driveway slab will be poured at Hat Head Reservoir.

Stage 2 of the construction of the Horseshoe Bay walkway is continuing this week with a contractor commencing installation of a stone veneer seat.

The itemised list of other planned works for this week in bridge construction, flood mitigation maintenance, road resealing, gravel road grading, roadside slashing, open space works and other projects is available on Council’s website from Tuesdays.

A development application and accompanying documents may be inspected at Kempsey Shire Council, 22 Tozer Street, West Kempsey, any time between 8:30am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday (except public holidays) during the exhibition period.

Any person may make a written submission to the consent authority in relation to a development application during the exhibition period. If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. Please note that any submission received by Council may be made publicly available.

A person who makes a written submission to a development application is required to disclose all reportable political donations and gifts (if any) made by the person making the submission or any associate of that person within the period commencing two years before the submission is made and ending when the application is determined.
