National Reconciliation Week 2019 banner

National Reconciliation Week

Each year National Reconciliation Week runs from 27 May to 3 June. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in Australia’s reconciliation journey- the successful 1967 referendum and the High Court Mabo decision which saw the concept of terra nullius overturned.

The 2019 National Reconciliation Week theme is Grounded in Truth: Wolk together with Courage. At the heart of reconciliation is the relationship between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. In order to foster positive relationships our communication must be grounded in truth, respect, trust and be free of racism.

This National Reconciliation Week, whatever your background, we’re inviting you to contribute to Australia’s national movement towards a reconciled future by becoming ‘a little more comfortable with feeling uncomfortable’ when it comes to navigating our nation’s historical truths.

Visit www.reconciliation.org.au/national-reconciliation-week  for great information and resources.
