Macleay Valley Coast and Council are ushering in autumn with the launch of #llovetheMacleayValleyCoast campaign celebrating the diversity and success of local small enterprise. As part of the campaign to encourage daytrippers to our area, Council has once again made available the popular ‘I love the Macleay Valley Coast’ bumper stickers to help locals spread the word. Airport documents discussion at drop-in information session

A community information session will be held on Thursday, 28 March, to assist residents interested in making submissions about the draft Kempsey Airport Noise Management Plan and Fly Neighbourly Advice which is currently on public exhibition.

Residents can drop in to Council’s Committee Room between 4:00 and 7:00pm to ask questions and seek technical advice from specialist consultants, The Airport Group. Submissions close on 1 May 2019 and will be reviewed and assessed against the draft documents before a final report is made to Council in coming months.

Horseshoe Bay Masterplan & Workshop

Following community feedback, Council has reviewed the draft Horseshoe Bay Reserve Masterplan to ensure it meets the contemporary needs of both residents and visitors. The South West Rocks community is invited to review the draft Masterplan and find out more at a series of events taking place in April:

  • Community workshop: Thursday 4 April, 5:30pm - 8:30pm @ South West Rocks Country Club
  • Walking tours: Friday 5 April, 8am, 8:45am and 9:30am @ Horseshoe Bay Reserve
  • Council information stand: Friday 5 April, 8am - 11 am @ Horseshoe Bay Reserve

Free koala food tree giveaway

Council is pleased to announce the return of our popular koala food tree giveaway as part of our commitment to preserving the local koala habitat.

Thanks to Council’s partnership with Koala Hospital Port Macquarie and the Forestry Corporation of NSW, a mix of Tallowwood, Forest red gum, Grey gum and Swamp mahogany seedlings will be available for free on a first come, first served basis from Council's Customer Service Centre on Friday 22 March, 9am-1pm.

Please note, proof of residence in the Kempsey Shire will be required to collect the free trees. For more information, or to order a large quantity of trees, call 6566 3200

Request for Tender T-19-18 - Provision of Insurance Brokerage and Risk Mangement Services

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is seeking Tenders from suitably experienced firms or persons for the provision of insurance brokerage and risk management services to Port Macquarie-Hastings, Kempsey Shire, Coffs Harbour City and Clarence Valley Councils.

Tenders should be submitted in accordance with instructions included in the request for tender documents. All tender inquiries are to be directed to Inez Young via the Tenderlink online forum. Tenders are to be submitted in accordance with the tender conditions by 11:00am (AEST) on Thursday 18 April 2019.

Weekly works schedule

The construction of Monument Point walkway at South West Rocks continues this week

This week bitumen road resealing will commence on Gowings Hill Road, Sherwood Road and on streets throughout Euroka. Crews will also commence gravel road maintenance grading on Tamban Road and Moparrabah Road.

Roadside slashing will continue on South West Rocks Road and in West Kempsey while new slashing will commence on Crescent Head Road, Belmore River Road and in the Kundabung area.

Drainage, kerb and footpath maintenance will take place on Harry Boyes Avenue and Straight Street, Hat Head as well as part of the Monument Point Walkway construction in South West Rocks.

Flood mitigation works will occur at Euroka Creek Floodgates, Rafferty’s Drain and McCabes Drain. For an itemised list of other planned works for this week visit www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au/works
