Verge and Eden Street Sporting Complex Masterplan

Background

Highlighted as a priority in the Kempsey Shire Sports Infrastructure Strategy, the Masterplan to upgrade the Verge and Eden Street sports complex has been developed in consultation with key user groups.

The project will include:

  • Reconfiguration of existing fields (including new turf wicket for cricket)
  • Refurbishment of the existing grandstand (Verge 1)
  • Provision of three grass surface netball courts and 10 hard surface courts
  • New purpose-built clubhouse incorporating amenities and change rooms
  • New lighting to competition standard on all fields, netball courts and ancillary areas
  • Passive recreation facilities including perimeter running path and fitness stations
  • Field irrigation, drainage and resurfacing
  • Expansion of car parking

The project does not include upgrades to adjacent sports facilities such as the Kempsey Swimming Centre and Services Club Park.

The Masterplan is on public exhibition for 28 days with copies available at Council offices and from the website. Enquiries regarding the Masterplan should be made to Council’s Coordinator Civic Services, Steve Pellen on 6566 3200

The community are invited to make a submission regarding the Masterplan in writing addressed to the General Manager, Kempsey Shire Council, PO Box 3078 West Kempsey NSW 2440 or by email to ksc@kempsey.nsw.gov.au up until 4:30pm Tuesday 30 April 2019.

Please note that any submissions received may be reproduced in full in Council’s Business Paper and published on Council’s website and accordingly will be treated as public information unless requested to be treated as confidential.

It is anticipated that the Masterplan will be presented to Council for final adoption in June 2019. Specific engagement with users groups and sports clubs will continue when detailed design and construction plans are developed for major components of the Masterplan.
