Animals

The broad variety of habitats located in the Kempsey Shire enables this area to support a large variety of fauna. A search on the NPWS Atlas (2006) shows that 468 fauna species from 174 different families (including marine species) have been recorded in the shire to date, including:

285 bird species
35 amphibian species
98 mammal species; and
50 reptile species
