Kempsey Shire Art Prize

Kempsey Shire Council, the Arts and Media section of the North Coast Institute of TAFE, the Kempsey TAFE Students Association and the Macleay Valley Arts Council sponsored the 2005 Kempsey Shire Art Prize.

A total of $8500 in prize money was awarded on the opening night to the winning entrants, whose work was chosen by judge Wendy Stokes. Wendy is a widely accomplished local painter and printmaker whose own work is represented in print Council of Australia, Parliament House, Canberra, Melbourne University, corporate collections as well as Regional Galleries in Bathurst, Grafton, Warrnambool, Port Macquarie and in civic collections.

On behalf of the Dunghutti Nation, Uncle Blue welcomed approximately 174 visitors and locals who attended the opening night.

The General Manager of Kempsey Shire Council, Allan Burgess, was the Master of Ceremonies for the night and Councillor Betty Green officially opened the Art Prize.
