
About Healthy Communities
Healthy Communities in the Macleay Valley is funded by the Department of Health and Ageing, and aims to assist people to improve their health and quality of life through free exercise programs, healthy eating workshops and the establishment of community gardens and outdoor exercise equipment.
The project is aimed at people wanting to improve their health and well-being and those who are not primarily in the paid workforce. Programs and activities will be offered into several communities within the Kempsey Shire through until June 2013.
Programs and activities will include:
- Heart Foundation Heartmoves
- Heart Foundation Walking Groups
- Healthy Eating and Lifestyle Program (HEAL™)
- Losing it in the Bush
- Healthy Eating Programs
- Community Gardens
- First Aid and CPR Courses
- Food Safety Courses
- Know Your Heart Training
- Foodcents Training
- Physical Activity Options
