INTERNET SUPERHIGHWAY FOR SENIORS AT KEMPSEY LIBRARY

Kempsey Library has installed a new computing facility called the Seniors’ Computer Kiosk.  The newly created area includes two computers with broadband internet access, tables with disability access and comfortable seating. 

The library has nine computers with internet access. The addition of the two new computers in the kiosk area will give adults, 50 years and over, their own special area.   It will provide a friendly environment where senior library members can come and learn basic computer and internet skills, access the web, stay in touch with friends and family and share photos.

All interested people are invited to the launch of the Seniors’ Computer Kiosk at 10.30am on Wednesday 14 October 2009.

GRANDPARENTS SHARING THE KNOWLEDGE

The new support group, Sharing the Knowledge, is conducting information sessions at the Kempsey Library for the next three weeks. 

Sharing the Knowledge is designed for grandparents raising children.  If you would like to meet people who are experiencing similar issues, ask questions and share stories you are welcome to come along.

The sessions will be held at Kempsey Library from 10am until 12noon and will cover:

Guest speakers will be in attendance and morning tea provided.

BABY BOUNCE AT KEMPSEY AND STUARTS POINT LIBRARIES

The Baby Bounce program, designed for infants 0-2 years, is on again at the Kempsey and Stuarts Point Libraries.

The program provides an opportunity for parents and babies to socialise, interact with each other and participate in a session of reading, rhyme and song. 

Baby Bounce will be held at Stuarts Point Library commencing 10.30am Tuesday 17 November and continuing on 24 November and 1 December ending 8 December.

Kempsey Library sessions will commence 10.30am Wednesday 18 November and continuing on 25 November and 2 December ending 9 December 2009.

Each 30 minutes session is FREE. 

There is no need to be a library member to participate.  You can come to all four sessions at your preferred library branch or just the ones that suit.

STORY TIME

Kempsey Library will be hosting story time for pre-schoolers on Friday 20 November from 10.30am.  The theme will be “birds”.  This is a free activity and will include a story and craft activities.  Please book at the Library by phoning 6566 3210 or email the Library at ksclibrary@kemspey.nsw.gov.au

 

FOOD FOR FINES

For all those people who have been late getting items back to the library, you can now make amends by donating an item of non perishable food to clear an overdue fine.  The library will accept one non perishable food item for each fine until Christmas.  No damaged, rusty or out of date items will be accepted.  Donations will be given to charity for inclusion in Christmas hampers.

MEGA BOOK SALE UNDER WAY

Kempsey Library and Friends of the Library Kempsey (FOLK) are currently holding a Mega Book Sale of pre-loved fiction and non-fiction books, magazines, videos and CD’s for adults and children.  The book sale will run until Saturday 21 November.  Come and grab a box or a bargain and support reading and literacy programs in the shire.

Books in Foreign Languages

The Library is able to obtain books in foreign languages from the State Library.  For a $5 fee you can borrow a box full of books (approximately 20 titles) in the language of your choice for a two month period. 

 

Reading group

A reading group is held at Kempsey Library on the third Thursday of each month at 2.15pm (Except December). Members read and discuss books on a variety of topics. New members are always welcome. For more information please contact 6566 3210.

 

F.O.L.K.

The Friends Of Library Kempsey meet every third Thursday of the month.  F.O.L.K. are involved in fundraising to promote reading in the Macleay ,help with school holiday activities at the library and assist with special events.
