Family history & genealogy

Kempsey Library has a computer set up in the Reference Room that is dedicated solely for genealogy use.

It may be used for family history searches, and for accessing early Australian records and other records from the late 1700’s to the early - mid 1900’s. You can also search for Births, Deaths and Marriages information and conduct general internet searching.

The computer is also connected to a Canon Microfilm Scanner 350II which lets the user view, print and save (as a picture) and document what they need from our collection of microfilm and microfiche.

Following are some resources to get you started on your way to finding family history and other records.
