Activities galore for 2019 Macleay Seniors Festival

Media release - 8 February 2019

Kempsey Shire Council is celebrating the contributions of Seniors and hosting a diverse program of events for the 2019 Macleay Seniors Festival from 13-24 February.

The festival officially opens on Thursday, 14 February with a Seniors Expo at Kempsey Macleay RSL - a one-stop shop for Seniors to access resources and connect with local community services.

Proudly supported by Council and Home Instead Senior Care – Mid North Coast, the festival features more than 30 activities and workshops from art exhibitions, music sessions and walking groups, to road safety awareness, line dancing, karaoke and digital workshops.

Kempsey Shire Mayor, Liz Campbell, said the Macleay Seniors Festival would showcase the fantastic contributions that Seniors make to the local community.

“Thank you to all our sponsors, event hosts and exhibitors. This event would not have been possible without your valuable contributions to our local Seniors’ community,” Cr Campbell said.

The 2019 Macleay Seniors Festival Ambassador, Betty Green, said the festival would offer Seniors many opportunities to increase their activities and enjoyment of life.

“The 2019 Seniors Festival has something for everyone. There’s a wide variety of activities available throughout the Valley - there is no need for anyone to miss out,” she said.

This year’s calendar of events includes fitness activities, information sessions, open days, music, dancing, road safety workshops, and arts and crafts.

“We are so pleased to have the opportunity to partner with Kempsey Shire Council for the 2019 Seniors Festival,” said Scott Marsh from principal sponsor, Home Instead Senior Care - Mid North Coast.

“We encourage all community members, organisations and businesses to get behind our Seniors and support and celebrate them at this very important festival.”

Council thanked the sponsors of this year’s festival - Mid North Coast Local Health District, Omnicare, Vincent Court, Thompson Health Care, Sea Spirit Lifestyle, and Booroongen Djugun Limited.

The festival’s full program and calendar is available online at or from Council’s Customer Services Centre.
