More day-trippers wanted on Macleay Valley Coast

Community life - 5 March 2019

Kempsey Shire Council has launched a new campaign to promote the diversity of the Macleay Valley Coast in autumn and encourage a new market of visitors to explore the region.

The I love the Macleay Valley Coast campaign is aimed at inspiring day-trippers from Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour to visit and discover the region’s natural assets and vibrant business community.

Council’s Coordinator Economic Development and Tourism, Marilyn Breen, said the campaign would give residents and local business people a way to share their love of the Macleay with others.

“Some incredible people and businesses have chosen the Macleay Valley Coast as their home,” Marilyn said.

“These people include CEOs, mad keen fishermen, innovative farmers, dynamic entrepreneurs and a creative community of talented artists who all share a passion for the Macleay and all it offers.”

The I love the Macleay Valley Coast campaign will celebrate the home-grown business community through an ongoing series of local legend profiles that showcases the Macleay’s diversity and culture at www.macleayvalleycoast.com.au

In conjunction with the campaign, Council and Kempsey Photo Club will host a photo competition throughout April encouraging budding photographers to capture the essence of the Macleay Valley Coast.

The popular I love the Macleay Valley Coast bumper stickers for the car or shop window will also return for the duration of the tourism campaign – or until they run out.

Mayor Liz Campbell encouraged others to collect a sticker from Council’s Customer Service Centre and promote the Macleay’s diverse local business community.

“When you live in such a beautiful Shire with such a diverse community and culture, it’s perfectly natural to want to show that pride,” Cr Campbell said.

The I love the Macleay Valley Coast campaign is part of the Discover Something New destination marketing program which has been successfully promoting the Macleay since 2014, building awareness, enquiry levels and visitor numbers.
