New amenities facility for Gladstone Memorial Park

Media release - 19 March 2019

Kempsey Shire Council will soon begin building a new amenities facility as part of the second stage of the revitalisation of Gladstone Memorial Park.

The new facility will feature three unisex cubicles, including one fully accessible cubicle with a baby change station, connected by an open breezeway and handbasin area.

Council’s Manager Commercial Business, Gayleen Burley, said the new amenities will be built slightly closer to the road to improve access and allow the existing facilities to remain in operation during construction.

“The new amenities have been designed to reflect the heritage of the local area and will be relocated within the park to maximise the space and allow for safer access,” Mrs Burley said.

Contractors Osborne & Dowling Pty Ltd will begin construction in late March. Further landscaping, park embellishments and demolition of the existing amenities will follow with the project expected to be completed by the end of September.

Council advises there may be some minor disruption to car parking during the construction period. Use of the playground should not be affected.

The project is jointly funded by Council and the NSW Government under the Stronger Country Communities Fund, along with a $12,000 donation from the Gladstone Markets Committee.
