New Crescent Head amenities for public convenience

Media release - 22 March 2019

Kempsey Shire Council will soon begin work on a new amenities building for Crescent Head CBD, delivering on a community priority identified in the village’s master planning.

The new facility will be located in Pacific Street, near the car park, backing onto the holiday park. It will feature a unisex accessible cubicle with baby change facility and a unisex ambulant cubicle.

Manager Commercial Business, Gayleen Burley, said the project is jointly funded by the NSW Government under the Stronger Country Communities fund and Council.

“The community strongly expressed a need for toilets in the CBD throughout the Crescent Head Master Plan community engagement process so it’s pleasing to be able to make it a reality,” Mrs Burley said.

“The new facility will complement the modern public amenities built at Crescent Head Reserve in 2016 by providing residents and visitors with two additional accessible toilets in close proximity to local businesses.”

Work on installing water and sewer services for the amenities block will begin on 1 April and is expected to take four days. During this period, the car park will be closed at the Pacific Street entry between 7:00am to 4:00pm each day.

To minimise the impact on residents and visitors during the busy holiday period, construction of the amenities will not commence until after Anzac Day.

Council advises there may be some disruption to parking, traffic and pedestrian access to the area during construction hours of 7:00am to 4:00pm, for the duration of the project.

The new amenities are expected to open in August, weather permitting.
