Fun-filled activities for Youth Week celebrations

Council is sponsoring a variety of events for Youth Week from 10-18 April targeted at young people aged 12-25 under the theme ‘Coming together to Connect, Share, Speak Out and Celebrate’.

A colour fun run, mural painting workshop and film festival are among the fun-filled events being held as part of this years local celebrations.

Blind Auction at Smithtown Hall this Saturday

Council will host a blind auction at Smithtown Hall this Saturday 13 April.

Used items such as lounges, chairs, outdoor settings and whitegoods from Council owned holiday parks will be up for grabs to the highest bidder. There are no reserves and everything must go.

Business Confidence and Visitor Satisfaction surveys now open on Your Say Macleay

Council is asking local business owners and visitors to the Macleay to share their thoughts on their needs and preferences for the future via two online surveys.

The Business Confidence and Visitor Satisfaction surveys are now open on Council’s community engagement website, Your Say Macleay, and will close on Tuesday 30 April and Sunday 12 May respectively.

Verge and Eden Street Sporting Complex Masterplan on public exhibition

Council adopted the Macleay Valley Sports Strategy in March 2017 as a holistic plan for the provision of local sport-related services.

One of the sports strategy’s high priority recommendations was the preparation of a Masterplan for the Verge and Eden Street Sporting Complex to guide its development as the premier sports facility for the Shire and to address current utilisation issues.

The draft Masterplan is currently on public exhibition with copies available at Council offices and from the website. The community is invited to make submissions up until 4:30pm Tuesday 30 April 2019.

Cycle safety audit begins

Council supports bicycle riding as an important part of the transport mix and has identified extending the local cycle way network as a priority under its Delivery Program.

We are currently conducting a road safety audit to review safety signage and identify potential hazards on existing cycling routes, pathways and road crossovers and require the help of local cycling enthusiasts.

Draft Horseshoe Bay Masterplan revealed at community workshop

Draft Horseshoe Bay Masterplan community workshop

The South West Rocks community had its first look at concept designs for the Horseshoe Bay Reserve Masterplan at a workshop last week.

Kempsey Shire Council and landscape architect Dan Plummer presented the draft Masterplan designs to 50 people at the South West Rocks Country Club as part of the latest round of community engagement on the project.

Workshop attendees were impressed with the draft plans and provided positive and constructive feedback that will be used to develop a final site Masterplan.
