The NSW Government has introduced rebates under its Climate Change Fund for the replacement of existing electric hot water systems with climate friendly solar, heat pump or gas systems. The rebate, which was introduced on 1 October 2007 form part of the $100 million Residential Rebate Program which was launched on 1 July 2007 with the rebate for rainwater tanks.

To help householders save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the following rebate is available:-

The rebates apply to existing homes as new homes will be covered by BASIX (Building Sustainability Index) guidelines.

Application Forms and Guidance Material

Applicants can download application forms and guidance materials from the Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC) website www.environment.nsw.gov.au, or ring the Environment Line on 1300 361 967 or email/write to request information. To obtain a rebate, householders will need to send in a completed application form with original receipt after installation.
