Traineeships with Kempsey Shire Council through Mid Coast Group Training
Applications close 6 December 2010

Advertising has commenced for the recruitment of up to 12 new traineeships within Council’s Infrastructure division. The traineeships will replace existing vacant positions within Council’s ranks and will reduce the dependence upon labour hire to provide flexibility in Council’s workforce.

Council is looking to recruit one Waste Management Traineeship (Cert II) and three Civil Construction Traineeships (Cert II) in the Works section as well as eight Water Industry Operation Traineeships (Cert II) in the Water Supply/Sewerage section.

The positions will be supported by formal study with the North Coast Institute of TAFE.

The traineeships are an excellent opportunity for local youth to secure valuable employment whilst undertaking meaningful training in the various areas of Council’s Infrastructure division.

Council’s Director of Infrastructure, Robert Scott said “this is part of Council’s strategy for addressing its ageing workforce and provides an excellent opportunity to retain some of the young people within the Macleay Valley”.

“It is also an excellent opportunity for mature workers interested in a career change to obtain the qualifications that are increasingly being sought when Council is looking to fill positions” said Robert Scott.

Applications close on 6 December 2010 and should be directed in writing to Mid Coast Group Training, 44 Lord Street, Port Macquarie, 2444.

For further information please phone Mid Coast Group Training on (02) 6583 5355 or go to Council’s website http://www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au/positionsvacant.htm.
