Kempsey Shire Council offers many options to help you pay your rates and charges.
How to pay your rates
You can pay online through Post Billpay
Pay over the phone or online through your bank. You will need to provide the BPAY biller code and reference number shown on your rates notice.
Download our Direct Debit Request form(PDF, 131KB) and read the Direct Debit Service Agreement (page 2).

Council’s Customer Services Centre is closed. Customer Service Officers can take payment over the phone by credit card or VISA debit. Please phone 02 6566 3200. Office hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
You can also pay in person at any post office or bank. A minimum payment of $20 is required.
Please make your cheque payable to Kempsey Shire Council and send to Kempsey Shire Council, PO Box 3078, West Kempsey NSW 2440 well before your rates are due.
We understand that many people affected by drought, bushfires and COVID-19 are finding it difficult to meet their financial commitments.
If you are having genuine financial difficulties paying your rates, please contact Council on 6566 3200 to discuss your options.
