Armidale Road landslip remediation
Council is remediating five landslips on Armidale Road near Bellbrook in the Macleay Valley hinterland.
Each site requires solutions to prevent and control rocks and soil falling to the roadway and causing a hazard for motorists.
Council and specialist consultants have used civil and geotechnical engineering to design construction methods, including fixing mesh with rock bolts to cover the rock face.
The remediation works began on 19 September. As there are several landslips, each site will be remediated throughout 2022 and 2023.
At a site around 1 kilometre west of the Devils Nook landslip, the first stage of the drilling and rock bolting works are underway and will run into end of December 2020. Next year, drilling will continue before concreting then begins. This is expected to be completed in late March 2023.
Each day the works will run from 7am to 5pm, weather permitting. Traffic control will be in place intermittently in different locations along Armidale Road. There may also be occasional road closures, but these will be timed to minimise inconvenience to local residents travelling to and from work and school.
Council has received Transport for NSW funding for the works under the NSW Government's disaster relief arrangements.
