Lloyd Park and Main Street, Crescent Head
Summary
Council is developing detailed plans to revitalise Lloyd Park and Main Street at Crescent Head.
Lloyd Park is a small public space in the heart of the village featuring a war memorial and several mature trees.
Pedestrian access to the site is currently difficult and presents some safety concerns.
The new designs for Lloyd Park and Main Street will be based on the community feedback that Council recently received under the Crescent Head Public Domain Plan engagements.
Community engagement
Council staff met with local Aboriginal representatives and the Crescent Head Anzac Committee in July 2022. At these engagement sessions, the following issues were identified:
- interpretive signage of Crescent Head's cultural heritage
- improved layout and usability of the park for Anzac Day ceremonies
- the fact that the park is an under-used space that could be improved for residents and visitors.
Timeframe
In January 2023, Council was awarded $1.15 million from the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund (Round 5) for the Lloyd Park and Main Street project.
Over the course of 2023, Council will be fine-tuning the plans and detailed designs for the area before any construction works begin. When works do kick off, they will be carried out to minimise impact on the community and businesses.
