Kempsey Shire Council proudly coordinates the Macleay Sustainable Schools Network, which aims to:

  • provide learning opportunities, tools, resources, inspiration and support to develop and enhance school sustainability initiatives
  • welcome local teachers and early childhood educators wanting to network and share ideas about school sustainability.

Meetings are held during a school term when possible and regular newsletters are distributed to network members. Parents and students are also invited to join some network activities.

Why join the network?

Schools and early learning centres participating in the network have access to support from Council (limits apply), which may include undertakings such as:

  • developing or reviewing School Environmental Management Plans
  • conducting waste audits and reviewing waste management systems
  • establishing or reinvigorating Green Teams and student-led sustainability initiatives
  • supporting grant funding applications
  • teaching kits and resources
  • professional development.
